Buspar for ADHD?

I'm 21 years old and was diagnosed with adult ADHD last year. Stimulants don't seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms.
Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD? I haven't noticed any difference in my ability to remember/concentrate but have been taking it for a little over a week now and seem a bit (I use this lightly..) less anxious...but, still need my ADHD treated. I'm in college and I don't want to fool around with my ability to focus...any help/advice is welcome.

Thanks for the welcoming message. This has helped, this information is encouraging....alas, I am considering herbal treatments. Am currently looking at a treatment on ****.*** for adult add. Just wary about all of these chemicals going into my body...I certainly didn't want BuSpar to have the opposite effect on my concentration

First i would like to welcome you to this forum. I hope you find the answers to your questions.

I have never taken buspar but i have taken wellbutrin and it worked quite well for me it has a component that helps with concentration. I know that both buspar and wellbutrin have been used to help people quit smoking so i believe they are along the same lines i know that i have used wellbutrin alone and with ritalin and in both instances i noticed a great improvement in my concentration ability. Not sure if this helps but just wanted to share this information with you.
