My 12 year old won't stop talking...

My son is obsessed (OCD) with weather, time and a few other things but mostly weather... He feels he needs to check it constantly and tell everyone around him about it... We have done the nice and polite "No thank you honey, mommy is thankful you love the weather but I don't need to know what it's doing 5 states away."
We've done the "Sure honey, what's the weather doing?" and we've played the quiet game... All to no end... He feels he needs to constantly talk about something, give reasons why he's doing/about to do/done something. He yells at the tv when he gets mad at the cartoon he's watching, Spongebob does something funny but Squidward is annoyed and my son feels that Squidward can hear him so he tells him to stop being mean... I tell him it's just a cartoon and that it can't hear him and the answer I get is "yes he can!".... Gets angry when he's denied the ability to speak and says some of the craziest sounding things... He refuses to use words right because he feels he's correct and I'm wrong. Example: Lately he's been using the word "creepy" incorrectly... Everything "creeps" him out even if it was a bunny eating a carrot... I tried this morning to explain to him that it wasn't an appropriate word for all things that are out of the ordinary and of course he got upset because I told him I was trying to help him to sound more educated than to just use one word for everything... We rode to the store the other day and I let him speak about anything he wanted the entire way there, in the store and on the way home... A good 45 mins. I am 5 mins from my house and tell him "Ok son, I want you to know that I have let you speak for 45 mins from the time we left until now and I'd like to play the quiet game till we get home."... To which he responds with "I have not been talking this whole time and now I won't ever get to talk again because you won't let me"... Frustrated beyond belief The long and the short of it is I've tried a lot of things, currently we are between psychiatrists and I need to find a new therapist for him. I love my son and see that a great many of you have the same issue with your children. I just want to be able to sit down for more than 5 mins and have quiet...

Sounds like ADHD to me. My son talked about the weather a lot too. Maybe instead of getting annoyed try letting him learn as much about the weather as possible. Get him some books on tornadoes, storm cells, meteroerology, etc. it just may be something that really interests him. My son talks about cars too, all the time. What kind of car is this, that etc. when he is on his meds it is not as bad, but here's my deal, if it is a strenghth with him unlike other things like math, i let him go with it and fill up his brain. Maybe he can be a weatherman, who knows. I know the talking is annoying, but thay really can't control it. Go online to additude.com read the magazine look up ideas. Good luck.

What do his teachers do in school?  I'm pretty sure they don't let him talk nonstop all day long.
Maybe you could get him to start texting you?  Or making videos which he could send you?  Make sure he adds lots of weather graphics and charts to the video.
But seriously, I really do wonder how he is doing at school?  Does he have friends?  Can he relate to other kids, etc?
