Percocet Withdrawals / Abuse

I am a single mother w/ 3 children.  I was first prescribed percocet when I was diagnosed w/ arthritis.  I used as directed at first and then eventually, I was using more and more.  I am at witts end and just want these pills out of my life.  Monday, I decided "this is  ...  [More]    it."  So I had 6 pills left.  I took 4 that day. And thought I could hang but by 9 PM I was feeling awful so I took one more.  I had a rough nite but not too bad but by 5 AM OMG!  So I took 1 more and that was it for the entire day & night.  I went 26 hours w/out any pills.  And by 7 AM today I thought I was going to die!  I took 1 more and now I feel like I set myself back because I was trying not to take any more.  So now I have one left.  But I now by tomorrow morning I am going to feel the same way.  What should I do??

this was a few days ago now...how are you doing? ARe you still off the pills now, or did you get more? Typically WD from these meds lasts 3-5 days and then you physically start feeling better. The mental cravings sometimes last longer depending on how badly you are addicted. Also depression and raw emotions come for a lot of people after quitting, as well as Insomnia, restless leg syndrome, diarrhea, and pain. THose latter symptoms usually only last in the 5 day frame except for the Insomnia which can linger. Come over to the Substance Abuse forum here, it is a real life saver. THere are hundreds of people there going thru the same thing, and in all different stages of recovery/addiction. SOme are clean for a long time now, some just quit and some still using and trying to quit. You will get a great deal of support, information and advice there. GOod luck to you.

I am not an expert regarding this however I do know that you may need some expert Doctor help here , now immediatly my feeling is that you stop thinking that you have set your self back, you have the same mind set to stop taking these pills,one left, a dilemma...then what ..you take this one and there are none ,so what choice is there, get more , its a never ending sequal isnt it ... my feeling is that you ask your Doctor how you wean off themand  you do it under his care...and if you feel bad...hey so be it, feel bad after a few days it will lessen, there is nothing that the human spirit cannot overcome ..nothing .Good luck
