Yes i agree about staying on it to long,,i dont want to be dependent on suboxone,or the oxys,,but i know i cant quit the oxys without help,,allready tried, what a joke,,i was pathetic,,its like a slow torture session day in and day out,,i dont need to put myself thru that,at 50 im actually in pretty good shape aside from haveing some back problems, though they have healed great,,thanx for writing to all,,,,

I think as long as you plan to use the sub SHORT TERM it should be fine. I have not used sub. But from the homework I have done, To me it is just a newer methadone. Meaning if you stay on it to long, like the methadone. you will have w/d's coming off of it. It has a very long half life. Just like methadone. So I would keep that in mind and be carful.. Like I said, This is just what I have found out doing the homework..

Good luck to you..

Good luck to you, it sounds like a decent plan.  My situation is similar with a damaged spine and the oxycontin allowed me to function and support my family.  But now (after 10
years of pain) my back feels better most days and I've decided I want off.  Like you this is my choice, doctors have told me I may need these meds forever.

I'm doing a slow taper, tried c/t last month and wimped out. For me suboxone will be last resort but I am learning as much as I can about it.  Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes

It sounds like a plan :)  I'm sure other people will direct you to the Thomas recipe. I was taking oxycodone for 9 months due to knee surgery and didn't have to much problems but since you have been doing them longer it will probably be harder. One thing I do know is that you should get imodium. Are you alone? I found it helpful that my husband was there to do the little things that have to be done everyday---like scoop the cats box and so on.

AS far as the suboxone goes I have read bad things and good things about them. So I guess it's different for everyone.

They say plan your work and work your plan which it sounds like your ready to do. Keep posting so we know how you are doing.
