I had to meet with the teachers and principle about bullies at school just yesterday. It was the 3rd day ever for my son in public school. Luckily I sat in on the class for 2 days and observed. I watched 3 kids shove another kid, not my son, everytime the teacher wasn't looking. Then they sucked up to the teacher immediately after. Apparently this has been going on for awhile, and the teachers thought the boy and his parents where exaggerating. I told them what I saw and the school is setting up new rules and boundaries. If each of us does one little thing, it is the same as a huge program. The biggest problem is kids not speaking up. Stand up and be heard! NO MORE BULLIES!
The mile high thing I could probably help out with :o))))))))))
This isn't really a Bucket List thing, but more like a fantasy if I were to win the lottery some day. I would build a HUGE house on 100+ acres somewhere in the Midwest. I would rescue all the animals I could. I would have Cats, Dogs, Horses, Rabbits, Chickens, Ducks..... You name it. I would have a small lake on the property. There would be plenty of room for everyone, and everyone would get along. I would live the rest of my days out there taking care of all of my babies. SIGH!
Now, if one of you would just leave me the money in your will! :)
Great Topic!
Rosy, thats right, and that statement is in my about me section, Never judge a book by its cover.
Heather, that's so sad. Glad the kids were arrested, but that poor girl is still living with that in her head. So sad.
Did y'all read about the girl in Fl who jumped to her death over being bullied recently? They are in the process of arresting kids, and one parent. Another thing that's sad is most of these bullies are just going along with it to keep from being bullied.
My daughter tells me there is a Twitter "Notebook" account ( from mean girls) for many different high schools. Not just locally. So, one tweet about such and such being a **** with their real name can be retweeted to reach thousands of kids in less than an hour. It's so different than when we were in school.
This really bothers me if you can't tell. And there is no magic solution. But the parents of a child being bullied telling their child to just ignore it, is in denial themselves.
I'm grateful my daughter isn't bullied, but can't wait till she's out of school. It's no wonder 22% of all kids in the US drop out of school.
Thanks for letting me vent!!
