Chasing the dragon

Just watched part of a program on herion addiction, it was on "Current TV". Two girls with british accents were involved in this program that lasted 28 days. The documentry took place in a Monastery in Thiland.

There were people from all over the world there. The monks were very strict.

The participants ate and drank some concoction the monks gave them to make them throw up......... daily.

There didn't seem to be any aftercare involved. They both were clean 18 mo. later on a follow up.

The only thing I could catch when the credits rolled was    www.curvefilms *******

Did anyone else see this? Or heard of this treatment?

Sub is not even any closer to a wonder drug than methadone is...... its simply another - albeit a good one - tool to use.  And the stuff is all over the place as far as Physician competence in both prescribing and quiting the sub is concerned. Do plenty of homework before you tout it too far.

Quite familiar with the Monks and their program- - - they were doing that stuff back in the 1960's when we were all checking out the China White scene that we inherited along with the "American War" in Vietnam - - - ancient wisdom still means that you dont use that tomato (fruit!) in a fruit salad!!!    I loved that one Kleen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's an effective new treatment for opioid addiction, including and especially heroin, called buphrenorphine.  In the US it is, unlike methodone, available by prescription from authorized physicians (so you don't have to wait in a public line at a window for your medicine)  http://archives.drugabuse.gov/NIDA_notes/NNvol16N2/Buprenorphine.html

I've watched  it a few times... can't seem to get it out of my head.
I think i'd like to go detox out in the world somewhere where I had no possibility to falling back in to my 'patterns'.... bit much with all the puking but at least your know you've been throughly cleaned out from the drugs, huh?

Interesting...  It's a bit hard to see why they needed to force throwing up.  I was doing it like 10x a day when I detoxed off pill's.  Meditate, is nice.. barfing and pooping were not and I didnt need any further help with either. Would be interesting..

LOL!!! Thanks IBK, facing or chasing, I think you are dog meat either way!

You and me both sara, I didn't need any herbal help!

I thought it was interesting, I tuned in and it was already going. Whatever they did, it seemed to work out for those 2 girls....they had to turn in all of their ID, Passports etc.
I think the monks were serious about cleaning them up whether they were or not!
I just wonder what it would cost to go thru that program today?

Chasing The Dragon is what I did on the streets.

"Facing The Dragon" is a documentary of a monastery in Thailand with a unique twist on detoxing and recovery. The first 5 days are spent with the Herbologist who has the patients drink a mixture to force them to vomit and cleanse their systems. The rest of their stay in spent in meditation and getting in touch with their inner spirit.

I am so glad my family did not send me there!
