day one of detox i wrote a poem id like to share

Breaking free from your grip of mastery, just give me one more night then set me free.
The warmth you bring shortly after we greet, like a warm blanket being pulled over my soul. I've never felt love like that before.
It's hard to explain to those that don't know yet still nothing changes about your blanket and my soul.
Still for those that know about your love understand that all things but especially love comes with a price and its that everything comes to an eventual end.

Well im no poet but it was right at the 24 hour mark of my first day of willing detox ever and it was the first clear thought i had.
Let me know what you think good bad ugly whatever my feelings dont get hurt.

Thank you all after i wrote that i didn't sleep for 54 hours and when i did finally get sleep it was two hours worth though but no sleep for me is not abnormal so it didn't bother me and doesn't. I am not having any cravings and the daytime is when i feel fine but my energy shoots way down as it gets dark. Because im not having cravings or any issues besides some tolerable physical symptoms it makes me feel like the path im now on is the right one if that makes sense. Its as though i can feel that in my bones or something its hard to explain. Thanks for all your thoughts and support friends.

Very nicely done Matt...I'm with Rosy, the first 24 for me there was not a clear thought going.

From a sleeping perspective I use Lunesta.  OTC's do not work for me either.  I was on Lunesta long before my battle with hydro though.  It's not cheap and I do not use it every night.  I've read here some folks getting addicted to them so be careful.  It's never been an issue for me.

Your poem...especially at 24 hrs into detox....is really heartfelt and descriptive of that warm blanket affect that lures us into addiction.

It's a really great thing to do...writing during this time.  I have a notebook from my first 55 days "in".....and I am so grateful to have those writings to go back and read now.

Hope you'll keep writing...keep sharing....and continue your taste of freedom.  That warm blanket turns into a wet blanket that suffocates the life out of us.  You're right....everything does end...but then thank God for new beginnings, too, eh?

Caffeine headaches are terrible for sure!!!!
We say that about the caffeine because it increases anxiety! If you are ok then have the soda... Everyone is different!
