I am so sorry about your friend and how his family turned their back on him.  He may of not known you on the outside but i bet there was a part of him that did on the inside.  I remember how important a man's handshake used to be.....Bless your heart for going to see him.

I am back already. It was just a 152 mile jaunt, a disappointing trip. My old friend is in the last stages of alzheimers and has no idea who I am. Still it was nice to be able to shake his hand even though I am now a stranger to him. It is a sad thing to see regardless of who has it. He has no family left due to the fact that they all turned their backs on him when he got into trouble fifty odd years ago. It was his grand niece wwho contacted me as to where he was. Seems they still want nothing to do with him. His crime was in defending himself when set upon by some guys that wanted his jacket and in defending himself he put one of them in the hospital in a coma and the person later died. He was aquitted of all charges but his family who were extremely religious, thought that he should have given them the jacket and walked away.  His lawyer pleaded with the family as I did but it was like talking to a wall.

I am not leaving MedHelp. I am just going on a short trip. Seems that I somehow lost the rest of the message. It was supposed to read," Goodbye, I finally found someone I have been looking for for years and I am off to see him. " Turns out he is in a nursing home in Brandon MB. This is not the first time I managed to screw up a message. I should have checked to see that it went through. I just assumed it had. I sincerely apoplogize if I upset any of my friends. By the way, it is nice to know that I would have been missed.
