you guys are right.......that anti-Ds cant change reality, they wont cure "situational depression". A pill isnt gonna make your husband stop being an assshole or plant you a money tree to fix your finances. BUT if you are truly clinically depressed it is a physical problem in the brain and the pills will HELP IMMENSELY in how you deal and cope with problems in your life. For me, I cannot go without anti--Ds. When ive stopped in the past, I crashed and burned so bad. I was crying hysterically about nothing, every day, all day, had no energy or motivation, felt hopeless and even nearly suicidal at times. I became physically ill and it took me a long time to crawl back out of that pit.
btw initial side effects will ease with time as your body adjusts, see if your Dr can Rx you something for nausea if you want to give the medicine a chance to work, Mary. Good luck and i hope you feeel better soon
omg..cymbalta made me so sick too..I do not feel that an anti-depressant can change the facts..when marraiges are falling apart, kids are messing up,financial worries etc..I just don't understand how they would help..
I started Cymbalta yesterday and was sick as a dog. There's no way I can take it again. Not sure what I'm gonna do. I was really hoping it would pull me out of my funk. Guess I'm just going to go El-Natural.
I don't trust them. There's been to many facts coming out about them not working, being addictive, mixed with opiates, etc... to make me want to risk using them ever.
I'm so happy with this post because I been feeling the same way about anti depressants and I been messing with them since I went off the pain pills my doctor put me on lexapro and trileptal and the same problem that ChiChi said so stopped the trileptal and change to Wellbutirin bad decision so now I'm stopping everything I will do the amino acid protoccol and see how that works for me but no more prescriptions for me just sub (for now) and my nexium (I have to have that)
I took Lexapro after a nasty divorce and it really evened out my moods. I was up and happy one day and crying and so down the next and the lexapro helped me feel normal. I don't think they're for everyone but they can be helpful to some.
I personally don't feel that anti-depressants can help you if you really don't have a imbalance in your brain. If you are just down and depressed over money, job marriage etc it cannot fix that. I've tried them for many reasons and they didn't work because the reasons I took them I had to fix myself. They did make me feel like I was in a druged daze all the time and sleepy also gained about 15 pounds so I don't like them.
For a person that is truly depressed or bi-polar they do work and do help. Also for some women with sever PMS they help when taken the week before and week during your monthly period. Usually Prozac is used for that.
Everyone is different and it usually takes many tries to find the right anti-depressant so everyone needs to keep that in mind. Also, if you have tried several different ones and they are not working maybe you don't have an imbalance in your brain. Maybe you need to work out some of your own issues.
a doctor told me if i would run for 30 minutes everyday i wouldn't need ADs. i do take prozac, it really keeps me from taking tramadol.
Because of drug use, our chemical makeup has changed. Using an antidepressant can help restore seratonin. I would first highly recommend that someone would first try amino acids like SamE and L-Tyrosine & or 5htp. There are fewer side effects.
