Thank you for stopping in .You are right this board is not a fit for everyone .
No problem, it's all vollantary . We won't force you to participate. Have a great day.
Given this is a board for addiction and I have none of any mega porportions, and the political thing is way over rated here, I will not be posting here anymore. Please don't post to me. I know longer have interest in this board.
Stop the madness. I give so much credit to both ladies!
Some of the younger people may not know what was happening before abortion became legal. There have always been abortions. The enormous amount of women that died, were permanently disfigured and never able to have children again can't be counted, since it was never talked about in those days. It brought shame and disgrace and of course was illegal. Many times women would use clothes hangers to perform self-abortions or they would find a dirty butcher calling himself a doctor (Usually not), where abortions would be performed in alleys or deserted buildings with dirty clothes hangers or other odd utensils. Often the "doctor" leaving the woman there to bleed out and die. These were the days when your teens were sent away to visit an "aunt" for 6-9 months, coming back in shame and unable to discuss the issue with anyone.
So those were some dark days for women.
I realize we have many childless couples desperate to have children. Just not desperate enough to adopt an older child .We have far to many kids thrown into the foster care system because there parents were incapable of supporting and caring for them .I would love to see couples adopting some of these wonderful special children .Sadly this does not happen nearly enough many cpls only want newborns so what happens to the rest of these kids ?????
Heh heh...welcome to the forum!! :)
The one comment I'll make is pro life/pro choice is actually a religious issue. Religions have different laws and rules handed down by their Gods from on high on this issue. In this context, it becomes an issue of infringement of the religious rights of a particular religious group (in the absence of scientific data to support the existence of a soul).
That being said... yes, unfortunately a woman candidate rends to face what can be stronger personal attacks than male candidates do on their physical and social being.
However, the republicans made the unfortunate choice of attempting to misrepresent what Palin is on a few key issues. It would have been better if they'd presented her as exactly what she is. The negative fallout would have been much less.
LOL Actually I was never a Hillary supporter.
The thought of any clinton in the white house makes me cringe. I wouldn't vote for Hillary just because I don't beileve Bill should have the priviledge of going back to the white house and defiling the most sacred building to this country.
Mary Mary Mary.. please are you serious???
>>>> Hillary was honest and hard working.
Hard working, tough, viable, rugged, hawkish, and so on, but her honesty has much to desired. Her negatives are in this area by a long shot. I admire her tenacity, but cringe at the thought of her in office.
Okay already........her hair is pretty. There end of the hair discussion.
I didn''t accuse you of being a baby killer. You have taken that way out of context.
I agree that she was an honest hard working Lady. She deserved some credit for that.
Everyone is misunderstanding me about the women thing. My comments were not about a female candidate. It's about women making snide remarks about another female and her hair. It has nothing to do with the political spectrum. Her hair has nothing to do with her capabillities as a leader. I understand that we may not agree on who should be president. But should we be spending time talking about her hair and her private family issues or should we be talking about the economy and the most important issues.
Please don't assume that I am strictly a Palin supporter. I have always been taught to be cautious and I will make my final choice when I feel food about it. I am reserving my decision until the last moment.
All I am saying is it's okay express legitamate concerns about our components but lets leave the trash talk at home. Its so pointless.
I am for a woman's right to choose but that, in no way, means I agree with abortions. And certainly not the partial birth abortions...that is not acceptable in any case. The child should be saved. AM for a woman's right to choose abortion in early pregnancy. More attention should be put on sex education in schools and the prevention of unwanted pregnancy. We need to concentrate on prevention so that abortion would not be such a major topic.
But I can't make my choice for president based on one issue. That sure would be easy, huh? But this country is much more than one issue. My main issue concerns are for the suffering lower and middle class Americans (economy & health care), the environment (global warming) and the war (no good).
P.S. Sarah Palin is against Sex Ed in schools.
and Sammie...Don't be accusing me of being a baby killer in private messages. You're so caddy!
Joe's the best in my book. He has been on the foriegn affairs commity for a long long time. He's been every where and knows whats going on all over the world. He is a stand up guy !
As for Hillary, I never really cared for her. It goes way back to when Bill was President. She got on my every nerve. But, I will accept the fact that she is a hard-working woman. And, she did a pretty good job with her daughter through it all. She's a lovely person. And, to be completely honest, I wish she was on the ticket over the others right now. I would probably vote for her! At least she has what it takes to get things done!!!
Mary:
I didn't realize that about Joe Biden. He talks about how he stayed home with his children and did not go to Washington parties, etc. to be home with his children following his wife's death. So, I guess I assumed he didn't have international experience. I have to say I admire how he placed his children first! That is a stand up thing to do!!!!
Sorry,I owe you a pack of gitar strings. lol
I guess what I don't get about everyone going GaGa over Palin is. Hillary was honest and hard working. It's about the issues. Why does everyone seem so amazed to see a hardworking honest women. It's almost like they can't believe it's finally happened. I see them every single day. I have no doubt that we will have a female president. It's what she stands for, and AGAIN the issues.
Sammie, Your against abortion and probably see eye to eye with Palin on the issues. I get that. I don't agree with her on almost anything. So the fact that she's female does not impress me.
Mary you just broke my d@m guitar string
Don't forget my man Joe Biden. He has more experience on foreign affairs than McCain.
I agree with you about Sarah Palin. I think she's a good, honest, hard-working woman. I admire her. I have read a lot about her and know people who live in Alaska who are impressed with her. She took on corruption in her own party. She has executive experience that nobody else on the ticket has! That's a plus in my book. Certainly, she has no international experience, but neither does Obama or even the other candidates other than McCain. I agree that there were better candidates on both sides of the spectrum that ran for President this year and I was disappointed with the outcome, but we need to vote someone in. The best way to do that is to research (don't listen to the media because they are all bias!!!) but research the issues and the stance of each candidate. Find out as much as you can and make an informed decision.
I agree with you on the abortion issue as well. I have friends who have had abortions and each one of them tell me how horrible they feel and that it has done something to them inside. I do not judge them - it was their choice at the time. I have no problem with abortion in cases of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger - but I do have a problem otherwise. There are so many people (me included) who would love to have a child and if someone said "would you take my baby" I'd say yes in a heartbeat. I haven't been blessed with that opportunity. At 46, I still pray and have hope that I will be given this blessing. But, my biggest concern about abortion is Partial Birth abortions. One of my reasons for not wanting Obama is his stance on this exact issue. He has voted on several occasions and his opinion is that it's okay to allow a baby to die in a botched abortion. That to me is murder. If the baby survives the abortion - we should do everything humanly possible to make sure that baby survives. I have heard from nurses who say what they would do is put the baby in another room and just let it dies by not caring for it. That's inhumane! If we allow this to happen, what's next!? Will they decide that you are too old to have cancer treatment and should die. Okay, maybe that's extreme, but I can't help but wonder where it would end.
Anyway, like I said on another post, we need to still respect each other's opinions whether we agree or not. I am so thankful that I'm allowed to have one!!!!
God bless America!
I am stil playing my guitar
