it seems many of my american friends here do not know what a loonie or a toonie is, so let me explain, lol. about 10 years ago or so, our brilliant government thought it would be a good idea to completely eliminate our 1 and 2 dollar bills, replacing them with coins, ya thats right, f reaking coins. the $1 coin has a picture of a loon on it, a beautiful bird resembling a duck, which we call the loonie and the $2 coin, being worth 2 we call a toonie. now here is the problem. on a day filled with many errands and stops a wallet full of 20's and 50's soon becomes a pocket full of loonies and toonies. after 2 or 3 stops i have to do my belt up tighter so the crack of my a ss does not show. it gets worse, lol. if you need change along your travels, say for a car wash, you have to exchange a toonie, and in it's place you get back a loonie and 4 quarters, ya, 5 more coins. what the he ll were they thinking.
it seems this is some type of conspriracy, i say. since the coins started, there seems to be more back and knee injuries and i believe it's because of the 6 pounds of loonies and toonies we carry around each day. our doctor's and chiropractor's are making millions, all thanks to the loonie and toonie haha. it's worse for me when some of the older customers pay me i have to stand there while they count out a hundred dollars of damn toooooooooonies i think they want my pants to fall down. i always wear underwear now, just in case.
ok so it's not all bad, there are a few positives. first of all you just don't rob somebody here. chances are all you will get is a pocket full of loonies and toonies, mind you a pocket full of these bad boys adds up to $100 a pocket, but trust me it's a slow get away and the theif running away sounds like an alarm going off. secondly when u think u r broke and need a bank machine just look under your couch or in the car cause chances are, you will find 40 or 50 dollars worth of toonies and loonies.
i say lets just go back and be like our american counterparts and get rid of these damn coins. maybe that's why us canadians always seem so happy, where ever we go, we jingle all the way, EH :) these coins are enough to make u go loonie.
