asking for prayers...

my son, davis, has been clean from crack for 4 years...alcohol almost 2 years (this was his substitute addiction).  six months ago...he found out his g/f of two years was pregnant.  they married and have been ecstatic, waiting on their daughter.  davis had started back to college...has kept a 4.0...and working two jobs.  both families have been helping them financially since they are young, expecting, and davis is going to school.

last night...his addiction won out.  his addiction told him that he was scared...that he had too much on him...that he needed something different in his life other than school, work, and coming home and doing nothing...he's 22.  he decided that he wanted to drink...and he did.  he went to a friends house and didnt come home til 4:00 this morning...meaning that he drove home drunk.

please keep davis in your thoughts and in your prayers.  he has everything in the world going for him right now, but yet he caved.  pray that he has the strength and determination to not self destruct.

if any of you have encouraging words or wisdom that you can give to him...i will GLADLY accept them in a pm and foward them to him.

thank you so much for listening...i am so worried and scared.

Hi Kim, Hi Davis,

Davis sounds like a success story and it goes to show us how after quitting drugs what we can accomplish, he has so much going for him now:)

I hope you come on and check out this forum Davis. Relapses are so painful and it gives our addictions some life again. I have relapsed more times than i can count and the best thing you can do now is to protect yourself from using again. This is the time you need as much support as you can get. After a relapse, we have 2 choices. Stop using right away and get back up as fast as we can or keep using and destroy everything we worked for, make the right choice bud, you have come a long way and you had 4 years clean, that is amazing and an inspiration to all of us.

You stay strong too Kim, he is going to be ok and congrats on the bundle of joy coming:)

Davis, don't give up.  You had a set back, not a failure.  Pick yourself up and do it for that baby girl that is coming in a few weeks.  You have your whole life ahead of you.  Be clean and sober when she gets here.  A sober Daddy is the only one she will know.  It is like a preacher once said, the day a baby is born they have no past.  She will have no memories of her father except those made after her birth.  Do her a favor and let them be clean memories.

Good Luck
