i am sorry if i took this to light, it is a good post with good advise on it!
reminds me of a country song....back when i was young a ho was a ho, crack is what you were doing when you were crackin a joke.....lol, back when i was young a farm party was grandad waking us up at 3am to work the farm!
Its definately good advice there. All pills should always be locked up.
I think before we start thinking all school kids are going down this path we should think about the effect of the internet. These days everyone in general and young people in particular run their lives off the net ... which leaves a trail about a mile wide.
In the past they would have arranged this kind of thing over the phone or in person, which we as adults would not get to see. Now we can see it so we naturally feel its got worse, which it may well have done but the higher visibility makes it appear worse whether it is or not.
The other thing is that social networking and support sites mix ages, countries and social groups up like never before. I mean I'm 40 and outside the net the chances of me having a meaningful conversation with anyone under 20 is a big fat zero. Whereas here the whole mix of people appear so, again 40ish people like myself will see more kids with addiction problems. They might have been just as numerous before, its just I didn't see them so again it might be a perception thing...
I'm not saying we shouldn't be concerned though, if I was a parent I'd be drug testing my kids on the sly as they are so vulnerable to peer pressure ... fall in with the wrong crowd and its likely to be messy.
