Tramadol

Had to go to my doctor yesterday due to a recurring headache.  First time I've had a chance to tell him I've been off of Tramadol for nearly 3 months (he wanted to put me on them again for my headaches)..I told him "no" and why and he repeated the mantra that tramadol is not addictive.  "perhaps not when used as directed, but I can tell you case after case of people i know who have become addicted to it  and go through worse withdrawls than many other opiates.  He was quite surprised.  Told him I'm off them, cancelled all my refills and never again unless I have serioius injuries.

At any rate, he thinks my recurring headaches (I've had this one for about 2 weeks) are stress related and I think he's right..not that I'm under any stress of course.

Hey hun! Good for you walking out without a script in hand. It is very possible that the headaches are stress related. I get them all the time and they are related to my poor eyesight and strain on the computer. I know what works for me is Excedrin Migraine. It is the combination of the 3 major components that help. Of course 2 is prescribed, but 4 works better according to my warped brain so don't do that as you will become immune to them.

I got you get relief for the headaches. Maybe light exercise? Relaxation techniques? Acupuncture? Any or all of those things may work.

Way to go on turning down the scripts!!  That takes alot of strength and it shows just how important your clean time is to you.  I am proud of you Jim!!

I would talk with your counselor on some relaxation techniques as IBK said.  One of the things i do when i am stressed is go thru my pics of my grandbabies.  It takes me to such a warm and comfortable place.  Try it sometime.           sara

Yes, I need to work on relaxation techniques, that's for sure.  If I can ever find a place where I can relax...and be left alone for half an hour.  But, my wife can't stand to see my relaxing it seems and has to come fill me in on her aches and pains and various obsessions..  Of course sitting here working with a quaker parrot screaming in my ear doesn't help either

A full night's sleep would help as well, I'm sure but I snore which drives my wife crazy and she wakes me up and off I go to the guest room..and I'm wondering if eye strain has something to do with it.

I'm taking aleve..he did give me a medrol dose pack and soma to relax my neck..yes, I know they can be addictive and I'm following instructions to the letter.

Jim, you and your wife really need to get on the same page here.  I can just feel your frustration.  Easier said than done i know and i really shouldnt be allowed a comment on relationships as 3 of my marriages failed!!

I think a road trip would be good.  Come see IBK and i.  We will drink coffee, listen to music and she and i will have you all straightened out in no time!!!  LOL

Yes, we do...just when I think we're getting there...we're not.  I know she has a lot of health issues that affect her and I try to accomodate them (nothing life threatening) but I feel more and more like all of her frustrations are taken out on me (which she will occasionally recognize) and it seems that everything I do "frustrates or  agrivates" her.

I'm on my way to see you guys..

and if I point out various things to her I'm being "defensive" as if I'm not allowed to state my case.

It's quite tempting, were it a little more financially feasible, to pack up and head south.  Go out for a ride and never come back.

but add to that, my job is becoming less and less secure and at my age, finding employment will not be easy.

I have a feeling that with her the old saying "misery loves company" comes into play?

well, yes.  Sometimes I think she loves being miserable and wouldn't know what to do if she wasn't.

Okay...We can switch off on the driving.  The driver gets to choose the music. Unspoken rule.  I'd like to go to Memphis but we can decide...

We need another guy in the mix...you think???

I don't mind driving...Yes, OK..the driver can pick the music..Memphis would be OK..haven't been there in years...wander up and down Beale St and listen to blues bands, take a boat ride on the river..  Eat some ribs!

Sure another guy's fine...gonna get crowded in my truck

Okay, I am taking over...does that surprise any of you?

Jim has the truck, that pretty much says HE is driving. Besides, he seems to know where we are going and I am all over Blues music. As far as who decides on the music? We can share, right? I will listen to anything, pretty much, EXCEPT ... what the heck is his name? That old guy who sings "Carcklin' Rosie"? Vicki, do you know who that is?
