what happened to Thanksgiving?

Hubby and I was driving down our street, a couple of days after Halloween and there are houses already decorated for Christmas, the whole deal, yard and house, christmas tree all a blaze. Do we just skip over thanksgiving? how many have their trees up, house decorated and shopping done? not me. I am usually out on Christmas eve finishing up.

I hate it!! I see people's homes already set up for christmas just as you have mentioned. Stors with Christmas stuff and you cant find  any thanksgiving stuff. I dont know what happened to it but it looks like we just overlooked Thanksgiving. Their is so much to be thankful for, what has happened to us all?

I was just telling sara on Sunday I had to run to the store and they already had the Christmas decorations on display everywhere.I HATE THAT!!!!  Do any of you notice it's almost impossible to find Thanksgiving decorations anymore,other then something that has a fall theme to it.Where are the turkeys and the pilgrims,horns of plenty??????  Some of my decorations have seen better days,but I can't find anything to replace them.I REFUSE to put up one Christmas light until 2 weeks before and they stay up until the day after New Years.It's always been that way in my house and it's going to stay that way.I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who can't stand this and that I'm not the only one still out shopping on Christmas Eve.

Why is it necessary to start putting up Xmas decorations and displays the day after Halloween.  Drives me insane.  Seems we have gotten so commercialized that the true meaning of these upcoming holidays have just gone by the wayside.  sara

This has got to be one of my top three pet peeves, if not THE top one.....I cannot stand this!!!!  I can't stand going into a damned store and seeing Christmas stuff up before Thanksgiving...and truth be told, I can't stand seeing it up before the actual month the holiday's actually IN!  I am out until Christmas eve too, and I LIKE it.  I also would much rather the focus on the holiday remain for two weeks AFTER....and two weeks before....I can't STAND people thinkin' it's "over" the next day and stores puttin' up their damned Valentine $hit right away....Geez people, you were in such a hurry for it to get here and you're done with it at 12:01 a.m.?!  I don't get it, doesn't the day make you feel all warm and fuzzy?  Don't you visit with friends or family that you don't get to see that day?  Don't you do SOMETHING, ANYTHING?  Don't you like to take off from work if you can and spend time with the family?  It ain't over until I SAY it's over in MY house, and that is certainly not the day after...and you can bet your a$$ it does't officially start BEFORE Thanksgiving!  OY!  I refuse to shop in a store that displays ANY Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving and I grumble and b!tch the whole way though until at least December.  It is a special time for me, and I won't let anyone ruin it for me...way to take a great time of year and ruin it people....I hear ya scaredmom330...I hear ya.

great post..you are so right..it blows my mind to see all th xmas decorations up everywhere.. to me it is sad cause that was one of the best parts of xmas ewve was doing the tree and just being with the family singing carols and enjoying the evening
