Your definitely need to tell your OB. If they test your baby's meconium which they do alot now it will show up. I think your baby starts to form meconium at around 12 to 16 weeks. So anything you take will show up from there on out. Plus your doctor needs to know so they can monitor your baby after you give birth. If you take your baby home and he/she is in withdrawals it could cause him/her to have seizures and lots of other things. I know this because I had my first baby on methadone. Which is much stronger then hydrocodone but your baby can still withdraw from that. If I were you, I would work out a taper schedule with your OB. But if you start to feel the effects of withdrawal I would slow down because your baby can feel them too. good luck and i hope everything works out great for you and your baby.
Hi WendyNicole.. Hi and Welcome to the forum.. I agree with sara you should speak with your Dr. When they go to test the cord blood they will find out anyway but if you are honest in the beginning the Dr will not be forced into contacting children services. You are not the first mom to have this problem ok. I know it is scarey but the Dr. will be very Proud for you for coming forward It shows you are putting the welfare of your baby above your own.. He/she will work with you and ensure your babe is alright.. I will send a prayer for you two tonight.. warm hug, lesa
