Went to my new doctor today

I went to my new doctor today, but before I tell you this I really prayed before I picked this person...I had to change because of my insurance...I have been having so much pain in my right arm and I have a spur on my right foot...I am falling apart..So the doc says it is my rota tor cuff (don't know how to spell that) Now I have to see a specialist for that and my foot...My other doctor has been given me pain meds and now that I no longer take those...I told this new doctor that I want whatever it is fixed and I want no pain meds...He said he does not give pain meds only in the hospital and they are shots and nothing to go home...I LOVE this doctor...I thanked him so much for that...I was telling you a while back that I am now taking control of my life and that includes getting whatever is wrong fixed not masked..I have been in so much pain for so long...I am so happy this will be getting fixed...I hope I won't have to have surgery, but whatever it takes I am doing it...I am in charge of my life..Amazing how the Lord works in our lives and just shows me on a daily basis how much He Loves Us..All we have to do is turn to him...FYI..I take care of my disabled brother that has epilepsy and I take him to the Barrow Clinic...One of the best neurologist in the world there and the last time I was there about three weeks ago,,I was given some really great information that I will share with you...We all know how bad opiates are for us..A no brain er ...But also your over the counter drugs are not good either..Advil, Tylenol...etc...We should not take those more than 3 doses a month...because they cause rebound headaches...I stopped taking everything over the counter for headaches then and I had bad headaches for the first week, which they told me would happen, but after my headaches are almost gone...If I do have one I drink a large glass of water and put ice...Amazing...We are such a drug nations..It really ticks me off...Alieve is fine once a day...Hugs...Just saying

I am glad you found this doctor.  We need more like him.  Our body is a temple and you are taking good care of yours now.  If you need surgery we will cross that bridge then.

I agree with Kyle regarding that surgery. I've seen it first hand the first 2 - 3 days after are especially rough!

Congrats on finding a doctor you like! That is great and I'm so glad that you're working on getting your pain fixed instead of masked!

One comment - rotator cuff surgery is one of the most painful procedures out there.  If a doc tells you that you won't need meds at least the first few days afterwards then they probably have never had the surgery. Having said that, there is a way for addicts to use meds responsibly. Sarah has laid out a whole plan that I will use if I ever need surgery in the future. Remember - the pills aren't the problem, we are. They can be of help.

Alieve is the good one...Another thing.. over 15 years ago I was told that I would be in a wheelchair in two years because of my back...I made an appointment right on the spot with a physical therapist and gave him my results of my MRI and told him..Bet me I am going to be in a wheelchair...I asked him to tell me what to do and he gave me stretches to do everyday and I am very far from being in a wheel chair...I do them every single day..I don't to be such a dork today, but I am so tired of all these doctors that don't give us options to better our health ..What we eat is really everything and exercise is so important..I sure wished I would have taken better care of myself when I was younger..I am paying the price today...At least I am doing something now ...Hugs...

I am really glad to hear that you found a good doctor. I hope that with this dr's help you can get all of your pain issues actually fixed. I agree that we tend to mask our ailments and diseases. Granted some things can not be cured, or fixed, but some certainly can. I wish you the best of luck with this. Please take care and keep us updated on how things are going. Hugs to you! :)

Thanks for the info.  So the doctor said that Aleve doesn't cause rebound headaches but Tylenol and Advil do?

I think Aleve is great for menstrual cramps.   I get them really bad too.
