how should i wean

I have been taking trams for about 21/2 years and was clean for about 2 years prior to doing the dumbest thing in my life & restarting!! I take about 8 50mg tabs 2x/day and want to wean myself down to help ease w/d symptoms, but am not sure how to do it! i only have about 50 left-went to dr. for xanax for when I run out and the anxiety starts.the worst part for me when I quite before was the stomach aches/diarrhea, then the anxiety and insomnia! I would just lay there at night feeling like I couldn't stop moving my body and sweating and was sooo tired but couldnt' sleep. Then I just had zero energy and I am a mom to a 10 year old so I keep telling myself I'll quit finally when he's gone to his dads for the weekend...to at least be alone for the first couple of days. Any helpful advice would be appreciated....I know I did it before,  but I am so scared to go thru it again even though I KNOW I have to! I don't want to be tied to it anymore....making sure I have enough every day and stressing about going anywhere and running out! Should I try to wean or just quit??? Also I have tried to take methadone for a short period of time after stopping the tram in the past and that helped, but then just started taking the tram again when i ran out of the methadone. I just want to STOP!!!! HELP PLEASE!!!

Thank you for the reply! I am still hanging in there-trying to wean so I'm not feeling too bad but I can't believe the anxiety I have just thinking about what is going to happen is terrible! I wish I could just be stronger and not worry so much! Thank you for your support....just being able to talk about how I'm feeling is so nice for once!

Hi, I am not sure you are reading this post, since it was yesterday when you wrote. There is a whole section devoted to Tramadol withdrawal and recovery.  If you look in the "recent activity" box to the right of this column, you can often see people that comment on "Tramadol & Ultram..." If you click on that, you will go to the forum that will be super-super helpful. I know you will get al the help you need there.
    I sometimes post there because many people are tapering (and I am tapering off Opana ER).  I wish there was a forum for people tapering from opiates that was as continuous a thread as this one.  Check it out.  Feel free to private message me anytime.  I am a mom of an 8-year-old and am in the middle of a taper, so I totally understand. We will do this!
