Detoxing

I have been through detox before. I remember how amazing I felt when I was "normal"...
I continued to justify my use of Hydrocodone and Methadone. How crazy is it when you feel like a better mother when you are using than not.
I am to the point that I never want to take another pill again. I HATE what I have done to myself.  With that attitude though, it has made my withdrawals bearable.. I am wanting to do it, just tired of "needing" them. It's day 3, I have so far to go, I remember. I am keeping busy, which helps control the cravings.
The only complaint is, today I started the irritable feeling. I don't remember how long that lasts. The depression *****. Mental withdrawals are worse than the physical to me.
Does anyone know any tips for the depression and irritability?

Congrats on day 3...Just like you, the mental and depression, guilt hit me pretty hard..Much worst the the physical part...I started taking lexapro at that time, and i know that helped alot..But the things that helped the also were, this forum, Aftercare (a Must), exercise, and my higher power...Because i realize that I could not win the fight without this....you are doing great, and i pray that you can get through the mental part...
good luck

exersize and fun stuff, fun people.
exersize is hard because it is also boring-hah. i have mountains by me and going on a hike is a really good workout on them. also it is beautiful surroundings and that makes it more interesting. also you cannot just quit because 'how are you going to get back?' it is so hard to do anything but when you are finished, you feel great!
is there any place around that you could go-like a park? bring a camera and try to find some really cool pics to take? a headset?
hope you r feeling like a million bucks soon!! and keep up the good work!
many pats on the back-

Refusing is right. As crazy a it is to have any energy to exercise it does help so much. I read that when I first got on here and thought it was a crazy idea but it really helps. Congrats on day 3. I know what you mean about feeling like a better parent on them. When I first came off of them I felt the same but this past weekend I actually felt like I gave my kids more attention. Hang in there

Hey there - CONGRATS on day 3!  Your doing great.  I think the best thing for depression, anxiety and irritability is exercise.  Try jogging or walking.  Anything to get your endorphins racing.  It helped me a lot.  Music helped also.  And posting and talking to people who could relate also helped.  Med Help was a God send for me.  Other than that - just time.  Remember it does go away and you said yourself you remember how amazing feeling 'normal' is -- so keep that in mind and focus on that.. good things will come.  Best of luck.
