I have not many to talk to right now. I have been at this house the 1st of may. I broke my hip. Its hard to get out and about when still on crutches. I just got all worked up and panicy was thinking about tonight. Im trying to keep my mind busy. These last few days have been really hazey too. is that normal? Come to think of it, the last 10 months have been a haze

I am fine with alcohol, never had a problem with it, so i tried it to help out with anxiety along the way in my 32 days, and it just makes me feel more tired, more worn down, just yuk. tried vodka, rum, beer, all the same, just makes me worn out, and I think it may have even given me worse night sweats!
so alcohol is out for me until my body is back to normal, and even then, not too much.
if you are used to it, weed sure helps a lot with everything. I don't want ot tell you to smoke weed, but in my not so always humble opinion, its great for the WD and its not dangerous, unless it will lead you to other things.

Just a half of a .25 mg xanax helps me tremendouslfy without making me too tired, so I take one of those if the anxiety pops up, which is not down to maybe once per day, just that little bit.

4 days is a turning point aroudn the corner, so keep up the good work, you will feel better very soon.
hugs,
Lily

Your getting great advice here.  Your DOC may not be booze, and it's possible for a very small few I think, to be able to not abuse alcohol after other addictions.  Most of us can get addicted to lots of different things however, and it too risky to trade one addiction for another.  Besides, I can tell you from experience that any booze is terrible after your doc being opium.  Alcohol alone is a terrible feeling after being addicted to opioids.  I cannot tolerate it at all nowdays and I tried.  Stay away from it.

Nope. Booze will compromise your reason, and before you know it you're doing everything you shouldn't be doing. Try melatonin.

Safe to drink alcohol? I don't know, but I think it's a really really bad idea! Drinking can be a very slippery slope! Please don't drink! There are many other things you can do for help with sleep! Just a few: Sleepy Time Tea, Melatonin, Alteril, Tylenol or Advil PM, Benedryl! Also, perhaps the best advice, get some exercise! Go outside in the sun and take a nice long walk! I wish you all the best! Keep fighting and stay strong! Stay away from the booze!

You know the only good thing my doctor ever told me when i was freaking out about not being able to sleep was this... "so what if you don't sleep.  whats the worst that will happen. Lay in bed for 15 minutes at a time, if you don't fall asleep, get up and take a shower, read, or do something relaxing, and then try again."  I know that sounds like the most logical thing in the world, but i was using pills for so long to sleep, it was like an awakening for me. lol  Sleep is very disrupted during detox, but it will get back to normal at some point.  I am not sure if drinking will help you or not.  I tried EVERYTHING in the beginning to knock myself out, and nothing worked.  But i do think most of what was keeping me awake was me worrying about not being able to sleep and stressing out about it nonstop.  Sorry, I don't have an anwser.  If I could go back in time to my day 4, (and there is NO WAY in H E L L I would do that) lol  I maybe would have tried my doctor's suggestion first.  Maybe try it out, at least for tonight.  Good luck and congratuations on 4 days!!!  You are at the worst of the physical w/ds so hang on, better days are right around the corner.
