48 hrs still kicking

Just hit the 48 hr mark, starting on day 3. Last night was rough, but 36 hrs has always been my worse time. Right now I'm tired, but not feeling too bad. I took a shower, even washed my hair. Went out and set in the sun, just trying to keep moving. Any input or advise, would be appreciated. Please pray this is the time I say good bye to these pills for good.

hello time,

I'm almost to 72 hours .......my main wd symptom is head spinning and dizzy. I feel like I'm rolling around inside a soccer ball!

I'm new here and have never experienced opioid wd - because I had never taken pain killers until about a year ago.......

I've been trying distractions to get me through.......like reading the obits in the newspaper, cleaning stuff that no one would ever thing to clean ---- like the aerators on faucets, the entire dryer vent and lint trap (actually taking it apart! ) , the little grout lines between the tile in my shower........it's weird and stupid stuff, but it has kept me busy........of course I can only handle about a few minutes here and there....but it's better than using.

I forced myself to walk everyday......even when I felt like I would fall over.

DO NOT GIVE IN ! KEEP GOING!

Prayers to you!  I hope this helps....even just a smidge.

You are on day 4, should be through the worse of the physical withdrawals. So things should be getting better for you. Just hang in there. I was feeling better, but night is drawing closer, that's my worse time. Prayers for you!!!

Everyone is different; some folks feel markedly better by day 5; others take longer.  I personally didn't turn a corner until day 10-14, but then again, I am over 50 and I took opiates (prescribed) for a long time.

Drink a ton of water.  Your urine should be pale to clear. A good rule of thumb is one ounce of water for every pound you weigh.  If you are 128 lbs, you should be drinking a GALLON of water a day.   Soda, coffee, etc, don't count.

Avoid alcohol, and caffeine.  Anything you can do that 1. gets you moving around and 2. makes you feel good (non-narcotic, of course!) will help your brain rewire itself faster.    What's going on is that you're head has forgotten how to make its own endorphins (short for "endogenous morphine") but you CAN train it to do it again...practice.  Stuff like sex, funny movies, drawing, painting, reading, writing, all this stuff helps.

I couldn't even THINK of getting out of bed for the first 4 days, but after that I forced myself to take the dog out for a short walk 2-3 times a day in the sunshine. It helped so much.

Shower or bathe---as much as you want.   Hot showers made me feel human again.   I know a lot of folks talk about protein bars and such, but my stomach was way too messed up to handle protein.   I had to eat a soft, bland diet of mostly carbs.   I know ramen noodles are evil, but they were my salvation for the first 10 days.

Hang in there, and once the worst of the physical symptoms have abated, think about some kind of aftercare.   You'll get cravings; we all do.  How will you deal with them?  Sheer willpower doesn't work for most people...I like meetings.  A/A, N/A, heck I'll sit in any room with a bunch of people who don't get high 'cause it means I'm safe.  Just a suggestion.
