A year later.....

Hey everyone! It's been about 11 months since I posted last about my awful addiction (and many relapses) to Vicodin. I have not had a single Vicodin tablet since December of 2010! And it feels AMAZING!!!! To all the people that helped me on here....THANK YOU, YOU SAVED MY LIFE. I have since switched therapists like you all suggested and she has me on a great regimine of (non addicting) medicine to keep my depression and anxiety in order. I have such a positive outlook on life now and realize there is life after Vicodin.

To all the people on here just starting out, there is an end to the WD's. There is an end to the awful mind games those nasty pills play on you. Basically, there is hope. If I can get clean, ANYONE can do it. Trust me. It was a painful few months, but with the help of my amazing husband and my trust in God I am alive today. I had a BAD...REALLY BAD addiction and I never thought in a million years I could go 1 day without taking it. And every morning I wake up and the first thing on my mind is decorating my new house, spending SOBER time with my friends and family. A year ago I woke up thinking of Vicodin, I fell asleep thinking about Vicodin....and I'm pretty sure I even dreamt about it!

Even if this post touches 1 person on this site, I feel like I've done something good. So if your doubting yourself, you can do it!!

Hey there...just a suggestion for you if you haven't already tried...I had the same issue with RLS and it lasted 3 months...UGH!!!  Anywhooo the ONLY thing that would stop  mine was to lay on my side with a pillow between my knees and a heating pad on the pillow. The heat would stop it completely...can't hurt to try it :)~

Great story...thanks for sharing.  I am on day 27 and feeling great.  The only WD I am having is restless legs..it is worse than ever..but a small price to pay for being clean.  I hope I can come back and say something similar in a few months.

Congrats on 36 days! It will get better, believe me!! The depression was something that really got to be unbearable for me & so that's why I decided to see a therapist. She put me on cymbalta and it has made a world of a difference! Even if you see someone just to talk, it will make you feel better. I can't count how many times I literally talked my husband to sleep rambling on about what I was going through. Alot of people on her suggested NA to me, but being from a super well known family in a small town, I just couldn't bring myself to go....anonymous or not!

Keep up the good work & before you know it 6 months will have gone by, then a year!
