It takes time, and I too have been wondering this a lot lately. I am day 12 clean from morphine. The thing is, and somebody on this site pointed this out to me(thankyou Gnarly!) that the addict in you wants immediate results, you want to feel better and you want it NOW! just like when you were taking drugs. give yourself sometime to recover. Your brain needs to start functioning normally again, and after 4 years that might take a little time. but it definetly won't take 4 years!! Once you are feeling like yourself again you'll be out doing what you used to do, before drugs. You know, being at the point I am makes me frustrated too. it's like I should be out of the house, doing things like i used to, but I KNOW i'm not there yet. Just gotta be patient, it WILL come.....drugs aren't who you are, they're what you did. That's all! Sorry I don't know how many days clean you are but that plays a big factor in how you're feeling too. Have a great day:)

I was doing drugs and drinking for almost 3 years. You will feel different after stopping. The reason for feeling less confident could be coming from the fact that you are unsure about yourself now. Before, when you were doing drugs, you knew who you were, what you wanted to do, how to have fun, etc. Now though it's almost as if a part of your identity has left with the drugs. I can promise you though that you will come back from this feeling. CCC is a surprisingly addictive drug, and it will leave you with feelings of depression and lack of energy after stopping. It's common to feel out of place when making such a huge change. But if you spend your time with people who are clean and stay away from the old, using friends you have you will find the change comes very quickly.

Yeah, you'll definitely get back to being yourself. I started out taking 3 or 4 pain killers a day and 9 years later I was up to 75 to 100 a day. I was taking 15 Vicodin at a time every 3 hours. Doing some rough math I've determined that I must have gone through 80,000 pain killers in that nine years. Now I'm clean and I feel really good. My wife of 22 years has said that it's nice to have me back again.

As far as getting things done, I now get everything done just like when I was using with the difference being that I pay more attention to details now. I do a better job at every thing now.  You'll get there too, it just take time. Give yourself 30 days before you judge your progress. At that point you'll be feeling pretty good. Everyday after that just gets better. You can do this, and this little community where everyone is in the same boat sure helps make it easier. Good luck chief.
