We're close to the same boat amber8.  I was taking up to 12 7.5mg Vics a day...usually 10 and I started with 6.  I had been taking them for about 7 months.  I've been an addict before, for 14 years then stopped ct.  Started back for kidney stone....stupid...won't do that again!

Anyway, I'm on my 6th day going on 7 and I feel both bad and good.  I've got bi-polar so it causes me to get some mania, which sure feels great, but this w/d's suck.

What sort of w/d are you having, or did you have?  I still get a little hot flashes, but mostly little headaches and sneezing...I hate the sneezing.  Oh and sleep *****.  I took Clonidine and Seroquel for the first few days and that helped allot but I've stopped them now, I don't like feeling drowsy all the time from the Seroquel, but FYI, they help with w/d's.  Seroquel is a psych med though but Clonidine is a blood pressure med but it's often used to help w/d's but it sounds like you're doing pretty good.  Maybe some Ibuprofen might help?

It's no easy task! I will be clean and sober for 5 years this April. I was a late bloomer, but cocaine got my being, bank account, soul, and nearly my life. I tried and failed several times (This is normal, so they say) but it can be done and you can do it. I lost my job (in law enforcement), my life savings, but when my self-respect was nearly gone, I mustered up the strength to finally quit for good. The first several weeks were hell, the next few months were difficult, but the following years have been some of the best of my life! Sobriety is a wonderful thing once you embrace it. Yes, I still get cravings but they are fewer and fewer as the years tick away. Best of luck to you and if you need a shoulder or support, I'm here for you. I understand you don't know me, but as redshoup, noted, sometime those removed from our lives can have the most impact! And congrats to her for nearly 6 years!

Of course I can't say it's cuz your getting the poison out of you, but when I'm doing it like now I've had what I call a "pressure headache" for most of two months. Aggravating and unpleasant, but I'm sure mines because of my tapering. It's like no other headache I ever had which were " sharp" in nature or on one side or other or in front. Mine are like my whole head is pressurized? If you arn't sure, check with a doctor, ok? Lot's of people complain of this symptom though. Congratulations on your new life clean!!!!

Its going to suck the first 2 or 3 weeks but i promise you it will subside and you will feel amazeing and so proud that you did it!!!! Reality is hard sobrity is harder but liveing is awsome!!!!! I am here if you need any help!! I know you dont know me but i feel for you it was the help of a stranger that got me sober!!
