Percoset is a LOVE/HATE relationship

Hi, I am a mom of 2 and have been on Percoset 7.5 325Acetametiphin. I was taking 5mg strength for over a year for tremdous foot pain. Just had surgery and learning to walk again....pain is TERRIBLE. nothing works and the Doc moved me onto 7.5. I take about 6 a day. I should be taking 4 a day. I ran out and my next prescription can't be picked up until 2 days from now. I am FREAKING OUT!! I am soooo scared of the side effects. What can I do and what will I experience? My doc gave me Conzip 200mg also and I am afraid to take those because I tried them before and they made me sick. I love the percosets...they take the pain away and I feel like I can function....I am so afraid to stop with nothing. I don't know when I will be able to stop taking narcotics since my feet are my life and in pain constantly. Can you take Percoset as prescribed for years?? I need another surgery but won't be getting that until another 2 years. I promise myself that I will only take 4 a day....I know I can do it.....I took more due to severe pain and the meds wearing off....but the pain should get a little less now. HELP!

Welcome to the forum!  Not sure I understand your question.
Your were on Norco 10mg....then Lyrica, Mobic and 7.5 mg Percocet.?...
were you on those 3 together?  Are you still on all 3 of them now?

What do you mean what's the next step up after 10 mg Percocet?

I so much agree w/ Bkitty!  I started taking lortabs 5 mg, then upped to 7.5 mg then upped to 10 mg.  It was all for legitimate pain.  After being able to take them as prescribed for awhile, I started upping them for the relief and the way I felt, and the energy I had (even tho a nice warm fuzz in head), and b4 I knew it, by the time I finally survived a car wreck with ligit pain and back surgery for two disc replacements, I was taking 20-30 mg/day. I would guess I was addictively taking them for about 6 years.  You don't have to go there if you don't want to.

You are at a really good point in your life to re-examine this.
I agree w/ Bkitty, too, about what you said about how it makes you feel.
I took Percocets when I could get them, but didn't want them prescribed because then I would have to see my dr. every mo. and get the paper Rx.
Then I couldn't "cheat" on my dosage.  So I settld for the next best thing,
lortabs.  Class 3 drug rather than a Class 4 like percs.
We're here for you always.  The way you feel these next two days is just a little speck of pepper like you might feel if you get full blown like me.
Blessings

Hi and Welcome! Are you looking for support to stop an addiction to percocet or some support with going thru the withdrawals until you can pick up your script in a few days? There is one comment that I read that scares me is when you said "I love the percocets they take the pain away and I feel like I can function". Dont let your mind get wrapped up in that feeling. Thats how addiction to these pills starts inoccently enough. A lot of members here were prescribed pain medications for legit pain but got hooked on them because they needed them just to function. The next few days until you can get your refill may be a little uncomfortable as you may experience some withdrawal symptoms. You will be Ok just uncomfortable. Since you are having to take more pills than the 4 you are prescribed a day can you discuss with your doctor adjusting the dose so that you dont have to take more and wont run out. Im sorry that your in pain. Let us know what we can do to help! ((hugs))~Bkitty
