I'm really glad to hear you are doing this..and it was probably very wise to toss the xanax..You'll be feeling better soon..congrats..take care
PS. In my infinite screw ups, I have used a variety of benzos to control detox pains. I would like to agree with you that valium is better for WD. Diazepam seemed to curb pain better than any of the three previously mentioned types.
The reason for going with xanax as opposed to the other was simply a matter of what I could get my hands on (street stuff).
Anyways, one final note. I have found skelaxin and advil to work VERY well for leg cramps, but not so much the RLS. I have also had success in stopping leg cramps by doing deep peneatrating massages in a hot water enviroment.
The best advice I have for the sweats is this.
#1. The sauana
If your going to sweat, you might as well do it in a controlled envrioment. This also serves a dual purpose to sweat out any remaining drug residules trapped in your fatty tissue. Additionally, it may help speed up metabolism, but this I am not sure.
If no sauana is available, you can do what I did yesterday. It was about 80deg F here. I put on sweat pants, and a jacket, and a cap, and ran 1 mile with my dog. All my neigbors probably thought I was an idiot, but it fealt GREAAAT.
#2. The paper towel method (strictly for pits) pretty self explainatory, keep some towels under there (its beter than staining a shirt)
#3 THE EXTREME MEASURE
There is a procedure available for adults who have chronic arm pit sweating. Though I am not completely familiar with it, from my understanding, teh sweat glands are surgically removed from your arm pit. However, as you can imagine, this should only be done in the most EXTREME cases (PAW sweats that last +1 year etc.) Also, you should be avised that there will be a legitimate need for meds after the procedure, which contradicts there very purpose of it in the first place.
#4 Go shirtless! Chicks dig it ?

I agree with the eagle, concerning valium vs xanax. Seems not to be AS addictive, and I believe in 5mg pills is quite more manageable. There ain't a thing for the sweats that I ever found, except a good A/C unit. But it should pass in a few days, as best I remember.
Best wishes

Since u flushed the xanax..if u have some anxiety i have found that theanine and calme forte help with it...KAVA also does...xanax is not the best choice in benzos for detox...it is one of the most highly addictive along with klonopin..ativan runs a close second to these 2...valium is a safer choice even tho it has a bad rep as it was the first to come out and widely prescribed...it is actually quite a bit weaker than the 3 mentioned above...natural is the best way to go if u can tho...and everyone is different so it could take one person longer to become addicted than someone else..I never have thought of myself having a problem with benzos cos they make me tired and i crave the energy the narcs gave me...i used valium during detox without a problem but only took like a quarter of a ten mg pill at a time...i also did not use them for sleep...it is safer to get a med designed for sleep that to use benzos...good luck and welcome
You won't have any problem doing 1-2 tabs per day for awhile. You should be able to do that for several weeks before you run into a physical problem. If you don't like those a gob you will be fine. But do be careful with them because they can be quite fun at times. I have no answer for the sweats. I certainly wish that i had. I will point out that, if you resemble my experience, dehydration can actually become a problem if you are not cognizant of the situation. It is more serious than most think. There are RX underarm deodorants that stop the armpit sweating.....FYI I found that valium was a better way to address this as oppossed to zanax - something about the zannies makes me uneasy -
Let your forum friends know if you do find an answer to those sweats - good luck............
Oh btw, thanks for the welcome : ) I am new here (obviously). I have found you people to be greatt!!!
BRB. Gotta call the plumber!!!! (just kidding)
Thanks all, since posting this I did some research on the subject. To make a long story short, I just flushed all my xanax down the toilet :) Ill be damned if I let that **** become a problem. I got some enjoyment out of it actually because I was thinking about all the macro\micro organisism's which are gonna be "chillin" out tonight in the sewer system lol...I will let them deal with it ; )
Unfortunately, the xanax is as addicting and can cause you just as much trouble. When my Dad was dying about 6 months ago I was having a lot of problems with anxiety and sleeping being so messed up from staying at the hospital. I was given Xanax during the day and Ambien at night. They both became just as addicting as the painkillers, only it seemed to happen quicker with them. I have learned now to be careful with any kind of medication and go to only one doctor who knows your problem. I
I have been fighting a sore throat /sinus condition since the first of May with no relief. I have received a shot a week and no results. I finally gave in and went back today because of the terrible cough I was having. I am so proud of myself for not even asking for a narcotic for the cough. I still have an elevated WBC and they can't figure out why? I am a non-smoker / non-drinker with no history of lung cancer in my family. Hopefully it is just a nagging cold that is not responding. However when I was on the couch this morning around 2:30 am not being able to sleep, I almost thought about going to the convenience store and getting some Whisky and making that homemade cough syrup that my paw-paw used to make with honey, lemon, and peppermints. The doctor gave me tessalon perles. I hope these work because nothing else has.
Sorry I hijacked your topic, I am just really proud of myself and I wanted to let you know to be careful with the xanax. I have been there/done that! It didn't end well.
Welcome to the forum. I haven't met you yet. (I went away this weekend and played)
The sweats should start lessening pretty soon. Chills took a long time (2-3 weeks) to settle down, but just sweats, not so much. The cold extremities drove me nuts for a while after that. I remember typing away on the forum with a heating pad under my feet (wrapped in a blanket). Hot baths with 1-2 cups Epsom salts helps. maybe even more than a sauna. It forces much needed magnesium into the muscles.
