Can I take 5mg of ambien with Alteril. Pain management Dr said to take Extended Melatonin and 5mg of abien for a while to tapper off Ambien.

Glad you're working on the Ambien taper with your Doctor. Don't be in a hurry, take your time and discuss any withdrawal symptoms with your Doctor if and when they occur. Alteril wasn't around when I did my slow 4 month taper over 3 years ago. I used other natural sleep supplements with melatonin when I got down below 5mg Ambien per night. You gotta do something to sleep during the process, which is why your Doctor made the suggestion.

Keep up with your Doctors plan for you. Sounds like he's really Knowledgeable about becoming Ambien free, and sleeping at the same time. My Doctor didn't really put too much thought into the process. He went with the mfg. recommendation, which didn't work at all for me and left me in big-time withdrawal hell.

Good luck tooter, and congratulations on the many days clean you have from Opiates. You've come a long way since you found us. You're a miracle in the making!!

Take 5mg of what??  Did you mean ambien?  Yes...that's okay with me...lol

I would take it although I've never taken ambien...but the doctor thinks it's fine and the other ingredients are safe.
