I know you'revsuffering but it actually sounds not too bad for Fentanyl withdrawal. Lucily you weren't on a higher dose. I had terrible withdrawals and I tapered from that and other meds. Honestly, the Imodium does help a lot, not just with tummy trouble but with other withdrawal symptoms as well. Hylands makes a product called Restful Legs that lots of people swear by. It's all natural and not habit forming. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Tonic wwater, with quinine, will help restless legs as will bananas, or anything high in potassium. I think Alteril is fantastic for aleep.
ty to everyone who's commented... my doctor's office has associates and since my mom works there she pulled some strings and an associate decided to just send in a script for a few lorazepam ( thank goodness too, apparently my doc is actually on vacation, not booked up :S )... I wasn't up for taking large amounts of imodium ... i hate taking it when i have a stomach bug, let alone for this... My main concern is that since i have kids around me at times, i need to have my head on straight so sleep is a must... hopefully it helps so i can get in a night or two here or there... i don't want to become dependent on a sleep aid or anti anxiety med in place of the fentanyl so will be careful. TY guys!! :)
I can't sleep or sit still at all... I'm just too restless... Ive been up 2 nights now and am starting to act a lil silly. I just want to relax a bit... thankfully the sick and blah feeling has passed mostly ( get a wave of it here or there but nothing I can't handle )
Are there any symptoms that are really bothering you right now? Or just a general awful feeling? We have myriad suggestions...
ty so so much for the advice hun!!
You would be surprised by how much you can take, and fentanyl wd's can really knock you down.
I don't think Benadryl is very good during wd's; it's just too harsh but you can try it. Yes, Immodium helps.
Try Alteril for sleep. It's all natural and works pretty well. Lots of fluids and nutrient rich foods. You need potassium and magnesium especially.
Hot baths with Epson salts is you new best friend...OTC pain relievers as needed. Questions?
It's great that you've come as far as you have. You're doing well, considering. There are meds that your doc could prescribe to help you through. One is clonidine, which is an antihypertensive med. It will help with the anxiety and restlessness to a degree. I would recommend trying to get in to see your doc sooner if you can. Most docs have sick appts reserved for people who need them. I would call and ask if they can squeeze you in, explain the situation. If you can get in to see him, he would be able to help by Rx'ing different meds to help with the symptoms. Nothing but time makes w/ds go away completely, but w/d can be treated symptomatially.
Sleep is usually one of the last things to normalize. It's very frustrating to not be able to get any sleep. Most people advise to let the sleep return naturally, but if you're going days without any sleep at all, that in itself is dangerous...that's another thing you can ask your doc about. While I wouldn't typically recommend a med for insomnia, sometimes it becomes necessary. If you end up having to take something, just try to keep it to a minimum, and don't take it for more than a week or so, otherwise you'll end up with rebound insomnia, which can be worse than the original insomnia.
Hang in there...read the Thomas recipe, and try some of the remedies there. I wouldn't advise taking large doses of Immodium to combat w/d While it does sometimes help, it's not a good idea to take more than the recommended daily dose for many reasons. If you're having diarrhea (which is common during w/d), then just take it as prescribed...don't try to use it as a way to minimize the other symptoms of w/d.
We're here for you!
