Just landed a job

Just landed a job and am all most  100 percent sure a drug test is necessary. I have been on prescribed oxy for over 5 months for multiple stress fractures. This job is very important in my life. I really need it. Was surprised it came about. My question is can I detox in a week off of 40 to 60 mg of oxy a day in a week, without  harming myself or doing damage to my body ?  I'm sure if my pain continues (and I'm sure it will)I will just have to deal with it. Read a little about Thomas recipe , is that effective without the Valiumn? This company would never hire someone on pain meds I'm sure of that. If u were there for a while different story. I am under a Drs care but know ones knows what this job means to me! Thank you.

As someone who hires people i would not tell the employer.  u can bet there are a number of other people wanting this job and 'informing' them of this situation will almost guarantee that u may be passed over.  u have no relationship with the employer or company yet and without that connection it could really back fire.

Oxy's are detectable in urine for about 3-4 days. I would say you should be completely safe after 4 days IMO

Best of luck!

I have been taking pain meds for so long they seem like a way of life. My routine, if you will. I know when I wake up and I'm in pain there is help in med cabinet. It's helps me function with a leg and knee that hurt. On the other hand I often don't know how bad my pain is. I just know it hurts and a oxy will take away enough of the hurt that I can make it through the day. Am I an addict, under that scenario I would say yes. I know I can feel better in a short while by taking a pill. I take them as needed but as my tolerance builds I take larger doses to stay out of pain. Do I want to quit no. That's makes me an addict  yes. Curious how long does it take before oxy won't show up in a drug test with use of apx 6 months? I want to thank all who responded I know this is very turbulent water and Iam trying not to drown like all of us. Thank you.

I agree it still may be difficult.  I was assuming you were taking them as prescribed and for legit reasons.  You can still go through a rough withdrawal even if that is the case but probably wouldn't have it as rough like most of us do mentally (with relapses etc.)  I guess we need more information.  Do you feel like you are an addict?  Were you taking them as prescribed or for the buzz?

First off, the acute withdrawal will be past after a week to 10 days, depending on how healthy you are. You will still be having some symptoms after that. Insomnia, stomach, and anxiety are common symptoms that linger, but everyone is different. There's no danger in detox of opiates, as long as you have no underlying issues, such as respiratory or heart issues. The Thomas Recipe helps many with symptoms and healing, including me. I had to function early on and took as many as 10 Immodium to get me through.

On the other hand, is it possible to discuss this with your prescribing doctor and form a taper plan to get off the opiates and explore some non-addictive pain management options. If you have legitimate circumstances and a plan to quit established, I think your employer would understand and appreciate your honesty. Starting a new job off being deceptive concerns me a little. Do you think you are an addict or do you take them as prescribed and have formed a physical dependence? I think you migh be surprised how many people have gone through what you are, maybe your new boss or one of their family members.

Something to think about, we are here to support you whatever you decide. Keep us posted.

I agree with Pat....but I don't think quitting is that easy.  People say that the THomas Recipe really helps.  I would maybe speak to a Dr. It is just not a physical withdraw, it is a mental one too.  You will need the help and support of someone in your life.  But, one is definetly true, you will feel like a new person an about a week.  You have to just keep believing that you will eventually feel normal again...just take it one day at a time.  When you survive one day..celebrate...then move to the next day...and so on....

Have faith... be strong....believe...You can do IT!

Hi Martin! So I have a question? Are you wanting to just quit long enough to take the drug test or are you wanting to stop for good? Im just confused.

Also, From what I know about drug tests, If you are getting meds legit under a Dr's care, All you need to do is show that proof to whomever is administering the drug test and if it shows positive to THEM for oxys, they will write it as a negative drug test! I do not believe they can disclose it as positive if your medically prescribed something. You may want to check on that, I could be wrong.

The Thomas recipe is very effective and has helped alot of ppl. The w/d;s are going to be there. Theres not much you can do about that except to ride it out and try to make then more bareable by using things listed in the Thomas Recipe. It does help though!!

Yes you can use the Thomas Recipe without the valium and it would be extremely helpful.
The amount of oxy you were taking is relatively low and a home detox is definitely doable.  You may find that your energy is very low and also have some trouble sleeping after your detox.  You should feel much better after a few days of detoxing.
Great reason to quit the oxy's.  Keep posting and let us know when you quit.  We can help you through it.
