Day 5 of wean and going strong!

Thank you everyone for all your help and support thus far!  Boy, the first two days being on this program were so hard...but I forced myself to stick to a schedule and did not faulter.  Today marks my 5th day.  I find the temptation the hardest part.  I had been prescribed these pain pills a few years ago and like many others, started to go way above the amount I was supposed to be taking.  My prescription was for 6 pills a day but I know I was taking at least 8 to 10 of them a day...not good.  So from going from at least 10 a day to 5 day was a big drop for me.  That is cutting my normal intake in half so I am really happy with my (almost) first week!  My Doctor told me it is the hardest and I am looking forward to it getting easier.  I honestly don't think I would have been able to make it the first couple of days without the support I have gotten from you all so far.  I know I still have a very long way to go, but I continue to fight!  God Bless

Well today is day 5 of withdrawls from norco the only thing I am really having a problem with is the anxiety and loss of sleep, but you know what I am going to hold strong on this I have done it before off perks now that was pure hell so coming off 5/325 of norcos seems alittle easier.Although I had support last time from my husband this time I dont he moved out 3 weeks ago after 10 yrs of marriage.I am a mother of 3 beautiful kids and they have given me the support I need.

Hey!!!

It's very nice to read of yet another who has decided to give up their pills.  It's all yours if you want it.

Taper/coldturkey, they BOTH $uck!!!!  Sounds like you have a plan though and that is good.  If you can stick to the schedule it WILL be easier physically yet drawn out a little.  Personally I could always be counted on to blow my taper plan right out of the water by the first dose, promising myself I would start "for real" on the 2nd.  Wow, what madness.  I think you know how the 2nd dose went  :)

Very happy for you.  Keep posting, we'd LOVE to see another success story around here!!!!!

Hi,

I tapered for three weeks before I stopped and then had some wds as well.  Tapering is much easier on the body in my opinion.  You are correct that the cravings will push your limits but tapering is not about getting the rush but eventually stopping and ridding yourself of the dependency on meds.

Sounds like you're doing great...
