Can you die from percocet withdrawl

me8
I am 25 and I have been taking percocet for 6 months.  I do not want to take it anymore.  I am afraid that I can die from the withdrawl and that is the only thing that is stoping me.  I tried to get help through my insurance but it does not cover the medicine and I dont have the money to put up.  I just finally got a job and the reason I lost the last one is because of the percocet and I dont want to lose this one for that.  Please someone answer me

I second that motion. You swear that it feels like you are dying but you don't and the turmoil eases as the days roll on. I'd say about a week to two weeks of being real dope sick then you start to see the horizon. Hang in there and most defintely stay here read and post it helps so much. MIke

No you won't die.

The only time really that an opiate addict may risk major health issues when they quit
are Heroin addicts and the reason for that is there life style.
When I was using at a $200 a day habit I didn't work, I had no home to go to, I had no car to drive and eating well I ate once in a while it is because of the lifestyle that endangers you in detox.
Opiates W/Ds if your somewhat a healthy person odds of dying my research experience and formal education says NO!

I'm nearly 100% sure you won't die from percocet w/d's. Especially since you only 25 and have taken them for 6 months rather than many years.

Like everyone else said, I would worry about dying from long-term use of the drug damaging your body and/or overdosing because of the tolerance you may develop.

Keep posting here! Everything will be better if you quit, it just takes time and reminding yourself that every day..day by day, is that much further in being sober and you being healthy and happy.

God bless!

When I was telling my Addiction Counselor about my oxy addiction, I asked him about what I could do about the withdrawl.  He stated that as bad as the opiate addiction is, one of the only good things about it is that you can quit cold turkey and not have to worry about dying or hurting yourself.  He said in his career and sharing info with all of his assosiciates, that he had NEVER HEARD OF AN OPIATE DEATH!

So be thankful for that, and best of luck this time with stopping for good..  Listen to most of the people on here, and you can get alot of support through these rough times..

God Bless.... Will

Nope, you may feel like it but you won't die. If you have only been using 6 months stop now before it turns into 6 years.

You might feel like you're dying, but no you won't die!  I quit percs 6 weeks ago....well 6 weeks tomorrow....it was tough for about a week, physically.  We'll help you through the rough parts, the easy parts and all the rest honey!!!  You can do it if you want to!!!!  I even had to tell my boss the truth about the withdrawls...we're so tight knit there I couldn't play the flu card to him....we're just too close.  It was tough, but I did it....I know I'm stronger for surviving that s***.
