Sorry for my rants. RELAPSE is not part of the original poll question.

My doctor wanted me to stay on subs for long term, which is what I feel, has created so much controversy and ignorance about sub use. I had many relapses in my past and I guess I assumed some, not all, other people relapse on opiates as well. That's what I'm looking for, some no-relapse stories. I just want more scientific info available out there, because many FEEL doctors are setting up patients for failure. Dr. Steven R. Scanlan is an addict and was successfully treated for opiate addiction with subs and uses them in his medical practice. He gives scientific reasons for why he does fast detox on his web page, under articles. It's worth a read if you're considering subs. I followed his and forum advice and feel strong through this process.  I simply can't afford to relapse, and I won't. I almost died multiple times in the last months of my methadone use. I was scared and looking for help, but heard so much negative about subs, when I really needed support. I hope more and more people find doctors that use the suboxone program correctly. Thanks for the reminder IBKleen, "set yourself up for success." All your posts help me hour by hour some times. It means a lot that people care.

"I realize that relapse is a huge part of opiate addiction". Not true. It is not a requirement and IF you have done the Suboxone program correctly there is no reason for relapse. Set yourself up for success, not failure.

Sorry for the misspelling on the question. I haven't relapsed and am on .5mg. There is a lot of opinion about subs, but it is spread all over this site and the web. When I first considered using subs, I couldn't find many success stories. I know there are many, in various degrees. Subs saved my life, literally. Even if I take them the rest of my life, I'm better off. I was just looking for objective data about subs. I realize that relapse is a huge part of opiate addiction, no matter DOC, at least for me, so I was curious, that's all. I am about to jump off. Thanks for your responses.

It seems like a pretty straightforward question to me.

4 months. I was on Suboxone for a little over 3 years, tapered myself off in March, and have been clean since.

Staying clean depends on you.  Doesnt matter what you have come off of.

I don't understand the poll at all, or the question really. Why would you assume members would not stay clean after a Suboxone program? Not everyone relapses. Suboxone can be a great tool to help you get your life in order while not using and can be very effective if done properly.

Did you relapse? Is that why you are asking?
