I was in a car accident that left me in a wheelchair for a year. Since then I have been off and on of Norco. I have five children and I stand all day doing hair. I know I have a problem.I get a prescription of 60 and its gone in ten days. I never thought that I would be here again after detoxing so many times.I feel defeated and scared. I tried to detox three weeks ago.I made it for a day and just couldnt do it.My youngest is 18 months old.He needs my whole attention. I am desperate to stop.I am a christian I do pray and ask God to help me.Any advice would be warmly welcomed. I want to be set free forever off of this drug.

You have made the first start!  Getting here and admitting the problem is big!  It can be done.  Have you talked to your doctor??  I finally did and she helped me with supportive meds (non addictive) and emotional support.  I was so afraid to tell her, but decided I had to to start the process of getting and staying clean.  I had attempted 2 other home withdrawals and relapsed.  Telling those I loved helped as well.  Secrets make us sick.  If you are otherwise healthy it can be done at home.  It helps to have family support if you have it.  I am almost 61 and am now 100 days clean.  I was doing 8-10 hydro 10s a day at the end.  Way too many.

Here is my post that I share I hope it helps!

I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU!  It will be over and I will feel so much better.  My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.  It is hard, but doable!  The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page) under Health Pages will help.  I did not to the tranquilizers and had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped.  Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help.  I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.

Hydrate and eat! ((gatorade is good) Even if it is just a little every hour or so.(boost or ensure might work for both food and drink)  You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.

If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works.  Walking seemed to help me some.  Hot bath with epsom salts..a little.  I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep.  If nothing works, your doctor might help.  Benedryl or OTC Alteril helps some with sleep issues and you will have them.

One hour at a time is all anyone can ask.  After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time!  Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill.  I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.  I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.

The hardest part comes after the detox.  Your brain will be all over the place and will try to get you back on the pills...It is having to work and not depend on the pills to help.

Good for you.  I hope all goes well.  You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!!  Keep posting!!!!!

I know exactly what you are saying, where you are coming from, and how you are feeling. Been there and done that! I am so-o sorry that you are struggling. It is so frustrating to try so hard and end up back where you started. How many times have I cried because I felt like such a loser?? Yep, I get it. Like you, I am a Christian as well.
It took me approx. a year to get myself clean in 07' ... but I got there after more than a few false starts! I wanted to know what the level of my back pain truly was. Now I know it's real enough ... it time I may have to go back on med's. but in the meantime I will try to keep taking nsaid's and other prescriptions that seem to help.
The most important thing is to not be hard on yourself. You CAN do this and you will. You will be a part of my prayers! Take care and message me any time you would like! :-)

There are a number of different treatments and different ways you can get help. I work with the a detoxification under sedation, where we help patients through the withdrawal while they are sleeping. Is pretty humane and comfortable but is not the only way…There are detoxification assisted by oral medication based on your symptoms. There’s the 28 day rehab that it does not seem you can do to your responsibilities. The only thing for sure is that you should look for help and put this behind you before it progresses into a bigger issue than it already is. I am here for you. God Bless you.
