Carl,
Sometimes the best thinking anyone can do is in the middle of he night :-). Sleep eventually comes but accept that you'll be tired for awhile...probably at least a month. Your legs aching was similar to mine. I took Tylenol PM and that seemed to help some. During the day, I loaded up on caffeine and Aleve.
Good Luck,
Guy
well done, Carl.. congrats on your fifth day...
you should start feeling better cause i would think you have gone through the worst by now...... have you tried a hot blanket for your legs or some heat source ? i have read here many people find it a help with their legs
Thanks to all who responded and for your fantastic advice and support. I am almost finishing my fifth day now and just started the Thomas Recipe this morning. I am still weak but each day is getting better and better. The blood is actually starting to return to my face and head. My legs bother me the most with lots of pain, not so much restlessness but pure aches to where they keep me up most of the night. I usually take a nighttime shower or bath around 11:00 but I end up only sleeping for 2 hours or so. Then its up for 3-4 then tired again and back to bed after sitting up at the computer or recliner. Total night sleep of 4 hours. I am eating a lot better but the weakness, sneezing and overall general flu type systems stink. I am reminded as a Christian man that there are still many caring people out there with hope and love. Thanks.
Carl
PS,
Karl,
Yes, my dad is a great man. After 44 years of a selfish life it was time I became a man.
You have come to the right place for moral support and good information. Know that you are not alone in your battle with addiction. Let your Dad help and try and take good care of yourself. You've already taken the first step . . . reaching out for help. Wishing you success, peace and strength.
Hello. Laurel is right about reading here and posting, if you want to learn things to help you ,or to blow off some steam. The most important thing that I found was to stay completely committed.
Your dad is a great man for seeing the need to help you at this time.Stories like this restore my faith in humanity. Good wishes to you and your father. karl
congrats on your decision, nwowatcher :)
i would advice you to have a look at the amino acid protocol and the thomas recipe ( at the health pages... ) where you can find some advises ...
drink a lot of fluids to keep you hydrated ( gatorade, apple juice, tonic water, green tea ...), immodium ( diarrhea... ), magnessium chelated+calcium supplement, a good B's complex, vitamins, lot of bananas ( potassium ), eat when you can a rich protein food diet, Hylands restful legs ( good help for Restless legs syndrom )...and maybe some natural help for lack of sleep like melatonin and valerian root...
take a lot of long hot baths, they will help you to feel better, more relaxed and with your muscles ( better if you have epsom salts )...
even if you don't feel like exercising, go for a walk when you can ....enjoy the sun...
and most of all, keep being positive and focused on each day... it's a rollercoaster ride, your emotions will be all around the place, be ready to ride them :)
and again, you have taken the best decision, Good luck, nwowatcher !!
stay here and post a lot, read as much posts as you can ( the more you learn abot this, the better ... ) and ask for help and support whenever you feel like :)
