Codeine withdrawal 36 hours in what to expect?

I’ve decided to quit cold turkey after years of taking codiene enough is enough I feel like I’m not really participating in the world no more, I’m there but not if you know what I mean. I’m watching my wonderful children grow through a haze. It’s a vicious cycle I take the codiene because I feel I need them but then take pro plus to counter act the lathagic feeling.  it’s been 36 hours without anything I have the chills and fever my head is pounding and the cravings are come and go, absolutely no energy whatsoever my question is what’s next to come? What should I expect? I took Benadryl last night that knocked me right out in fact I could barely get out of bed in the morning and have napped on and off all day I’m wondering if it was that or the withdrawal? Because I’ve read so many stories of people not sleeping. I’ve been taking vitamin c and 5http I don’t wanna get anything prescribed from the doctor as I’ll feel I’m passing one addiction on for another but I’m worried about the days ahead of me from what I’ve read it gets a lot worse? I’m kinda wanting to prepare myself lol! Is there any vitamins use could recommend also? Thanks guys x

Hi Twilight and welcome to the forum.  Things are pretty quiet around here these days so you may have a be patient with questions.  You should look up the Thomas recipe.  It lists a lot of vitamins/supplements you can take that help with wd symptoms.  Sadly nothing will make full blown withdrawals easy but the fact that you were able to sleep on you first night may mean that you wd symptoms wont be too bad.  How much were you taking daily?
