Comming off methadone, cold turky at home.
weened down to 25mg every other day, stopped complete 4 days ago. The all over body pain is like ive been working out for hours. I wake up,yelling when I move and in pain all.day. Question is..... How long will this pain last? Dr says might be me, not the drug. How long do I give it?
Oh Hun 25 mgs? Big jump. I tapered from 90-3mgs over 2 years. It will take some time but when you get over the first two weeks you'll see everyday improvements. Oh and speed? Only if you want all your withdrawals to times by two. Don't do it. I couldn't even have a drink for the first three weeks. And yes I agree that methadone clinics try to push methadone on you. All you are to them is money. I was fortunate enough to have a few nurses at mine who actually cared and still follow up with me. You need to stay strong. It is so worth it.
HI dont imagine your sleeping .....I write these to encourage you to keep pushing forward with this I know just how hard it is I came off 150mg but tapered you go in and out of withdrawals along the way remember a hot soak will help a lot with the symptoms and dont forget to force the fluids at least a shot glass every 15 min gatoraid is good get a blacket and pool up on the couch with some soft music playing close your eyes and get lost in the music this will be as close to sleep as your going to get for a wile keep posting for support nothing gets you sicker then methadone so justhag in ther we have had members jump from higher doses and make it the first week is the hardest goodluck and God bless.....Gnarly....post to let us know how your doing.....
hey im new here but i just came off 1mg of methadone its day 5 and have flu like symptoms im taking a good multi vit and drinking lots of water and cranberry juice i was to scared to get off at a higher dose! good luck and i feel ur pain
hello. my husband went cold turkey 23 months ago from 20 mgs of meth and he was also taking xanax. not gonna lie he was very sick. but he did it. with hope and perseverance he came through and thank GOD is still clean today. he had been taking meth for 10 years.
the first few weeks are very rough. can you go to a doctor? if you have to go to the er if you cant stop vomiting. they can give you some meds to stop the vomiting. also your blood pressure will get high. they can give you clonindine to help regulate it.
when my husband could finally keep something down he started to drink ensure. try to take sips of liquid as often as possible so you dont dehydrate. dont take any other drugs that arent prescribed to try to help you with the withdrawal. they will only prolong the agony.
are you looking into counseling and support groups such as na or aa?

HI so you made the jump.....well it was prity high of dose so your going to feel it for about 2 weeks if you can get to walmart and pick up a 3 in one vitamin calcium/magnezum/zinc and start taking 4 in the morning and 4 with dinner this will cut down on the withdrawals in a few days time a hot soak is your best friend when your up to it I recamend drinking whey protein shakes there loaded with amino acids as well as vitamins as well as raw protein all of witch the brain needs to heal with methadone you have to be in it for the long haul getting well can take a wile its based on how long and how much you been taking 60 days of post withdrawal is not uncomon you get an aenergy crach and no sleep try the vitimins and give then a few days to work they should bring you some releade if you need to talk just message me good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Speed is not going to help the pain. It's going to make you feel terrible AND wide awake while you feel terrible.
How about treating the symptoms: Force fluids,hot baths and soaks,some decent food,vitamins and minerals...

Ok, im taking the suppliments I saw you list for someone else, cant hurt. Called the methadone clinic dr, he said nothing helpfull. He said, well people have stopped at.that dose before but why do uou want to

Detox center here means you lay in a bed and stair at a wall while staff walk around and judge you. You dont get into a detox program unless your dieing sick. I can stay at home, take nausea meds, benedryl for sleep. The only thing I feel is this pain. I cant go buy some now, im too far I think, someone said speed will help, ill try that today,
I was under the impression you saw or spoke with a doctor about this particular situation. So, do I have this correct? The doctor doesn't know? You buy the Methadone on the street?

Again, you jumped at too high a dose and I think you should see a doctor to get yourself back on track. Even a clinic...

I think vicki meant (sorry to speak for you vicki) that it's not JUST you-methadone is a beast to get off of and what you are feeling is normal from jumping from the dosage you are at. Can you go to a detox centre? I hope Gnarly shows up to give you his rock solid advice soon....Hang in there....Lu
Dr doesnt know, I buy my methadone off the street. Talked to a dr when I stopped percocets and he was an ***. Told me to go to a detox.center
I agree. I have no experience with methadone personally-but everything I've learned on here says that is too high a dose to jump from. Sending support....Lu
Call the doctor back and ask him for some help with this. From everything I know, that was too high a dose to cold turkey from, even if it WAS every other day...
