Day 11 off hydrocodone c/t

I got a migraine last evening & although the Midrin I take for it is very helpful, I would be lying if I said I didn't want to take some hydrocodone. I'm very glad I don't have any here at home. I was very restless last night & didn't sleep well despite a hot bath, soothing music, etc. . . My migraine continued until today but thankfully was gone by mid-day and I made myself get up & go out. I don't mean to sound so down. . . it's been a good day. I got to see a very dear friend of mine and I'm 11 days clean! My pupils still aren't down to normal size & I wish I could get a good night's sleep but. . . . I've been on this stuff for ~6 years so I suppose I'm not going to be "well" overnight. If anyone has any ideas for better sleep, I'm all ears. I can't take any TylenolPM or any other type of PM meds b/c I'm allergice to it.

Thanks! It hasn't been easy, but I AM determined to beat this! I've tried melatonin, to no avail. But thank you VERY much to your support & suggestions. . . .it's amazing how much this forum helps, even just to vent & to hear that others understand what you're going through. . . . day 1. . . or day 100. . .

I am sorry to hear about you putting your baby to sleep. that is very sad. Stress is a big one from what I understand with migraines. Two of my closest girlfriends get them and they suffer as you described. And yes, they both take their medication immediately at the onset and if it is caught in time, it often does the trick.

I also have to mention that this sneaky disease of addiction plays tricks on our minds. We can literally be in pain when we really aren't, and that is just a small example. The pills call us and they want us back and they talk to us with those little voices that say "If I just had one right now this pain would go away" and on and on.

I always recommend that people get some form of aftercare once the physical withdrawal is over. We all know how to get clean, we just don't know how to stay clean.

If you engage in some form of aftercare you will gain the tools to deal with the cravings and also you will begin to know when your addiction is playing those tricks. You will always be an addict, it is a life-long battle so best to arm yourself any way you can.

Glad to see you are feeling better today and also glad that you posted about it.

Thanks for your positive reinforcement! I've had migraines since I was ~7 years old (I'm now 35). I've tried literally every medication out there. This is actually my 2nd attempt w/Midrin. My Neurologist combines it w/dexamethasone & it actually works pretty well. . . . I just have to take it immediately upon getting the headache, which doesn't always happen. I tried both the pill & injectible forms of Imitrex & neither helped. This is my 2nd migraine in the last 11 days. I'm sure it's partly related to the stress of detox & the stress of having to put one of my animals to sleep. Mine are always stress (good or bad) induced. I have to say, the hydrocodone did sometimes seem to aggravate my migraine. . . .but I didn't really care b/c it also made me feel better, you understand. Thanks again for your positive reinforcement!! I'm not sure why I'm having kind of a hard time on days 10 & 11. . . . but this too shall pass I suppose.

I am glad you didn't go for the Hydrocodone. From what I hear from several friends that are migraine prone, it does not work effectively anyway. Have you ever tried Imitrex?
