Can Norco Detox last longer than a week and a half?

Hey, all! These forums are great. I've gained a lot of insight from reading all the comments. Thank you all for sharing your experiences. Here's mine:

I have chronic back pain from scoliosis. Took around 20 Norcos a day for a few years, then did withdrawal in a hospital. Never again. Had a bad reaction to the clonodine (almost slipped into a coma) and for months afterward, I couldn't sleep (despite taking 200 mg of Trazadone), felt weirdly manic, just . . . not myself. I'm not saying it was the hospital's fault, but I knew if I ever had to withdraw again, I wanted to do it on my terms. That was about 2 years ago. Started taking Norco again (bad pain) but much less this time. For over a year, I "only" took 4 a day every other day. But then I had a few setbacks and started increasing to, eventually, 4-6 every day. Still not as bad as the first time, but not great. I tried tapering, but that didn't work for me. I just felt awful -- like I was going through a mini-withdrawal every day. So I decided to go cold turkey. I read up and prepared, and actually the 7 days weren't too bad. I felt tired, some stomach upset (but not the terrible diarrhea I expected), muscle aches. Unlike the last time, I was able to sleep every night (still taking Trazodone). So, yay!

But now it's Day 10, and tho I do feel better, I still feel soooooooo exhausted. And my stomach is still a little uppity. I know I shouldn't assume there's a set schedule and by Day X, I will wake up feeling fine, but has anyone had experience with WD lasting more than a week? I know one poster here mentioned it taking a week and a half. I sometimes worry that I'll never feel good again. I don't crave the drug -- I just want to feel normal again. Will it ever happen?

Thanks again.

Thank you! The support from this forum has been amazing. I wish I'd found it sooner -- I might have quit sooner. I have been eating healthier than ever and drinking tons of water, coconut water, protein shakes. And walking. Go, me!

Thank you. It's so nice to know that so many people are advocating exercise, as that's what I WANT to do but didn't know if I should. I walked yesterday and will walk again today. Thank goodness for lovely weather. Hoping to get back to yoga next week. Thanks for the response and kind words.

For sure the answer is yes..the human body is a marvelous machine..and we beat the crap out of it....if you want to speed things up..excercise (if youre able) release natural endorphins...anything to get the blood circulating..sunlight helps.you're in a very good place,,,the worst is over....it gets better day by day .....

Keep putting one foot in front of the other, hours turn into days turn into weeks.......Don't stay idle. I promise with each day you will feel better. Concentrate on taking care of you right now. Exercise, eat right and take pride in each day that passes. As they say a bad day clean is better than a good day using :)

Yes, that was me, too! I didn't feel too terrible, but I had it in my head that after Day 4 I would feel noticeably better. Oh, well. Thanks for the advice about moving. As I said above, it's been hard to know whether to move or take it easy, so based on your comments, I will move. And no -- no more pills!

I can so relate. I kept reading after 3 days it is all up hill, so when things were not perfect at day 8 I thought, What the he--?? Seemed like day 9 was the turn around day for me, but didn't feel my spunky self till 3 weeks or so. The more I moved around the better I felt. Even if it is senseless busy work, do it. Promise, you will get back to normal. Just don't cave to any other pills to help with this. Let nature do it's thing. xx

Thank you so much, Stacy_Lynn. I have been taking walks, maybe 3 in the last week and a half. It's just been hard to know whether I should move my body or take it easy. I WANT to move -- I especially want to go back to hot yoga, but I have no energy. But I will force myself to walk, at least. I walked yesterday . . . I will walk again today. NOW!

Oh how i missed my energy during the first 2 weeks but now on day 31 i have mine back. Try moving that helped me a lot, even if it's a short walk. It seems as the more i moved the better i felt. Hope u get ur groove back soon. Stacy

Yes it will happen!  Energy seems to take the longest to come back.  Our body needs to heal from the inside also.  Our organs took a beating and they let us know they arent very happy with us.  You are doing great so keep moving forward!
