Day 15 and going out with friends for the first time

15 days down and I have been invited to go out with friends.  They know nothing about it, but question why I have lost so much weight!  I keep changing my mind because I am so tired and don't feel like doing it, but I am going to make myself!  I am hoping it will get me out of the depression.  Everybody says do it even if you don't feel like it so here I go.  Will let you all know how it goes.  I don't think I have been out with some of them without the percs, boy it feels different.  Gonna try to dance since that is what I like to do.

Go out and have a great time. I personally have had no issues with alcohol since in recovery. I had 2 beers once, a sip and poured it out another time. I can see how the above could ring true, however each person is an individual. Statistics are a basis to apply a theory and nothing in life is guaranteed.

Since I don't know your full story I'm not sure if this advice will apply to you, but I'll give it to you anyway.

Those of us in long term recovery understand that we cannot use any mind altering substances at all, alcohol included. Science has shown that our pleasure centers in the brain are different after addiction, and stimulating them with alcohol (even if we were never addicted to it) will cause us to crave our drug of choice. Coupling that with the lowered inhibitions that alcohol induces, it's a bad combination.

Just be careful about it. Have a way out if it gets to be too much for you. When I went out early in recovery I made sure that if I felt uncomfortable I left right away, I didn't force anything. Good luck, have fun!
