Just make a good plan and stick to it. Whether that be cold turkey or tapering. The back and forth will really mess up and confuse your system. Either way, you will go through some withdrawals. Tapering will make it a bit easier, but you must stick to it. We can not give you any specific tapering plan, but a slow and steady drop is best. Good luck.
I took a half. I had to, I'll need to taper down. I went from taking 8-9 to taking 6 then went cold turkey. I'll need to taper down some more, I have about 50 left but will a toddler and a single mom there is no way I can do both. I have tramadol from an old script I took one this morning at 7 and my last norco was at 10pm and then I took another tramadol at 1230 and just took a half of Norco at 250. The tramadol didnt help me the second time what so ever. I'll just need to taper down, I've been taking b-6 and b-12 along with n-acytal tyrosine. I also have the withdrawal ease(doesn't help) I was taking the 5-htp but not this morning since you cannot take it with tramadol. I went 17 hours without one I CAN do this. I know most say tapering just prolongs the withdrawls but I can handle withdrawaling some and stretching out my dosage just not the full force. I just can't wait to be off of these forever and ever....I got down to 6 a day how many and how long should I cut down at a time? I know we can't help much with tapering but any sort of help with it would be helpful.
Hi Ros, everyone is different, but typically, the acute symptoms last about a week. It feels like you have a bad case of the flu. Have you checked out the Thomas Recipe? There are things that you can do to help ease the symptoms. The most important thing, at least for me, is to stay as active as possible. Try to get outside in the fresh air every day. This will really help with fatigue. Take care, and keep posting for advice and support. I wish you all the best!
Well it's been 12 hours since I've taken one. I've decided to quit cold turkey... How many days should my withdrawls last?
They cant find the source of my stomach pain. I've had it this entire time. I personally don't care if I'm in Pain without the pain meds. I'll find other things to do to help. But I can't sleep an full nights sleep on pills because I will always wake up early withdrawaling like no other. Then can't do anything till it kicks in. We'll a toddler doesn't wait for it to kick in...
Well I want to quit cold turkey but I have a 2 your old and I'm a single parent. So that's not quite an option. I'm not going to take anything for my scoliosis and mysterious stomach pain. I'm in Pain whether I take pain pills or not, they don't help. I just have to take them so I don't withdrawal. I was taking the 7-8 and not in I'm down to 6 I did 5 yesterday and woke up at 4 am sweating and crawling out of my skin but I was so exhausted jt was horrible. I only took 6 today because I did a lot of activities and had to carry my toddler around and my arms and back really hurt and it's hard to be withdrawing in public chasing a toddler lol. If I'm taking 5-6 a day how bad and how long(mostly how long) will withdrawals last? I yes I was hear April 12 2012 getting off of them, them I had major surgery and didn't have a choice and found out I scoliosis...
Hi! It's great that you've made the decision to quit the pain pills. The problem that I see is what are you going to so about the pain? Have you discussed quitting with your doctor? Also what alternatives will you have to treat the pain? It will make it easier once you find the source of the pain. You said you have Valium and anxiety meds. I'm not very familiar with Valium! but isn't that supposed to be for anxiety? Take care! I wish you all the best.
Sounds like my story exactly. I did cold turkey and thankful I did! Today is day 13 and I feel great!! Congrats on wanting to stop.... But don't get caught in another web like I did, Xanax. Now I have a great dr who is giving me a chance to get off everything!
Hi and welcome. It's pretty late so it's really slow right now. First congrats on your decision to quit.
That is an awfully fast taper. Truthfully if you drop a pill a day, you're going to be prolonging your withdrawals. We can't give taper advise, but have you thought of going cold turkey? I would think about that. An average of five days of acute wds versus some wds during your taper, then you'll prob still have some moderate ones. But whichever way you do it, as long as you do it is great!
Since you asked about Valium, have you gone through this before?
Others will be along in a couple hours too...
