Still sick

As most of you know, we have done well coming off methadone and we are very thankful for that....but ever since last Thursday when I got so sick...I cannot seem to get my stomach back in order.  I am worried that if I continue like this, I will end up malnourished and very sick.  What should I do?  Yesterday I ate a piece of toast and a cracker...it seemed like a lot to me.  Methadone is terrible on your gut, restoring proper gut function is proving difficult for me.  Also, I had to stop my vitamins for now...that scares me too.  Any advice?

How long you been off dear?  I couldn't put anything into me for 7 days, and only a little for the next two.  If it's from w/d, just keep drinking what you can get down.  Gatorade would be a good choice.  I also drank Ensure after the 7 days.  I'd recommend chocolate, and keep it very cold.  There's an o-t-c med. called Emetrol, for vomiting.  It works wonders.  Have someone pick some up for you.  Sorry you're so ill.

feohmoon, i am so aorry you are ill.  you have done an awesome job of getting of the methadone and to be hit with this just sucks.  i pray it will end soon.  you have been a great inspiration to me and others here and we need more success stories like yours.  keep up the progress and feel better

I kept getting sick after I quit...would be feeling good then a flu...then a tummy virus....felt like i was getting beat back down again....finally coming out of it and broke out in a rash sturday...i am like geez!   atleast i dont feel bad tho just got bumbs all over..hang in there

I don't know anything about methadone....I wish I did!!!  Hang in there...you've done remarkable!  I'm going to use your story to try to help my brother in law get off of this ****.  I wish you relief SOON!!!  Take care you two! :)

Sorry to hear you are having stomach problems...could you drink Ensure or some of those drinks they give to hospital pts?

Sorry about the tummy issues,try drinking tea with sugar and are you taking immodium still?Hang in guys this will pass.Popcicles also calm a bad tummy,sugar has always helped for me.Also a slurpee,Good Luck hope ya feel better

You will not be malnourished it takes weeks for that to happen. I know this from my husband having ulcerative colitis and not eating a bite for over a month. As long as you are drinking plenty that is fine. We were told that by doctors.

Have you tried the Activia Yogart??? It's pretty good stuff and it adjust your digestive system by adding the good cultures back. It taste soooo good too!!! Hang in there, you know methadone stays in your system a very long time.
