I told my doctor I'm addicted. All he did was ask me "Why? How much I was taking." I told him the truth, completely. I feel the truth always sets you free. He knew I had gone thru detox twice before. He knew I know what to do to get off. And he was very open to me getting off of hydro for good, made suggestions for my pain - like PT, Orthop. doctor. Worked out very well. No biggie at all.

When we get scripts for pain, addiction or at least dependency is always expected if the scripts go on for a while. It's absolutely no surprise to our doctors at all. They took the class. Also, and most importantly, ending up addicted is not shameful in any way. That's what opiates do to us.

What are you on, and how many a day and how long have you been on them? Answers to these questions will help all of us help you out. You'll be surprised what some of our members on here have gotten off of. You've landed on a great forum and we're here to help you.

You can expect the doc to give you a lecture. He most likely won't believe that you flushed them but he will probably write you a new script which you will have to pay cash to have filled  since your insurance will say it's too soon to fill regardless of the situation. He may say you need them because of your medical condition but might try switching you to something different. He may even help you with a taper down program or help you find a rehab program. You never know with doctors. My doc has dropped four different pain meds for me but still has me on a few that he say's my medical condition warrants. He said when the time is right and my condition has improved enough that he has a plan to slowly remove all of the opiates from my treatment regimen .

Congrats on wanting to stop and flushing the pills. I have never been able to flush them. Hats off, sounds like you have had enough. I bet the Dr will be pleased that you are ready to do this and will offer up some help. Good for you...honesty is the best policy. Keep reading the posts on here and keep posting for support.
