Detox

I have been reading everyone's posts. Good luck to everyone.

I have been doing oxycodone 15mg pills (about 3-5) a day for 5 months. It has completely drained my account, given me acne, and I NEED to be done with this drug. I had a 4 year addiction to ambien (taking up to 10 a day) and have FINALLY kicked that addiciton but just replaced it with another one. It is ruining my life. I am on vacation from work for 5 days. I am going to kick this in the next week.  I have about 5 pills with me (5mg oxycodone) and a few xanax. What is the best way to taper? Help please. And thank you all for your stories...

I have been on xanax for 8 months...(after a death) but am ready to get off - have to get off the vicodin (56 hours sober right now) and the the ambian CR first....then the Xanax...(using both to get off the vicodin), but I have heard all of the horror stories about coming down off of them.

What was most awful about coming off?  Did you taper too fast?  Just trying to learn so that I can prepare myself for that day 1.

Thanks!

Well the Oxycodone shouldn't be too hard to come off of, your really not taking that much, but it' the Xanax that can be a killer.

I had a horrible time getting off Xanax, and  I never took more than prescribed.  If you've been on it for awhile I highly suggest finding a Dr. usually a Psychiatrist, that specializes in helping people get off of Xanax.  That's what I did, and I'm really glad because getting off the Xanax for me at least was awful and I only took it for maybe 6 or 7 weeks.

I wish you all the best.

I am also tapering off this week from hydrocodone 10/650 about 6.5 per day. I am on day 3 and I am only taking 2.5 pills. I feel pretty good, I have no energy during the day though but I feel better knowing I wont have to worry about them much longer. Tomorrow I will be taking 2 and friday only halves when need be. I think it would work for you since you can relax and not get stressed. Drink lots of water and you have to mentally say to yourself you can do it. You have to want to do it or it won't work. I was amazed at how that attitude really helped me. I decided a few days I wouldnt take it anymore and I have been really good about it! You will feel a great sigh of relief and you will be so proud of yourself when you stop the pills. It won't feel good for a while though, you will have to fight the urge and take deep breaths. My addiction may not have been as strong as yours so this information may not help, I don't know. I did get withdrawl symptions when I was out of pills which I wouldn't wish upon my worse enemy. Good luck to you and I wish you the best!
