30 days without methadone

hello all,
well the worst is past;still have fatigue bowel issues, and pain in all the areas that I was taking meds for in the first place.sleep is still a problem.RLS I'm up all night'then sort of sleep during the day,I would like to get that reversed.
Since I tried to be proactive and exercise, early on ,and ended up in the ER.I'm reluctent to get to active.toughest part is being motivated to do what I do,write, paint read,I get ill when I try:all in time, just an up date on methadone.

Day 30 off of methadone
The worst is over with.  Methadone is hard to kick and I am proud of myself for making it this far.  I tried to go back to the clinic on day 18, but I was already discharged and now I'm glade I didn't.  Some days are harder than others.  The mornings are the worst.  Sleep is sometimes impossible which only makes me feel worst, but after a while your body will shut down and sleep. I also have fatigue and muscle discomfort. My doctor says I am no longer in withdrawl from methadone.  Methadone depletes your body of almost all your vitamins and minerals.  So we have to restore our bodies.  The RLS (which is horrible for me) is because I have low potassium, magnesium, and zinc. So I take supplements along with a multivitamin and even drink Ensure in order to restore my body back to normal as quick as possible.  The only time I think about using is when I can't sleep and my RLS is real bad which usually come hand in hand. I started a new job 3 days ago which has actually done wonders so far.  Staying busy keeps your mind off how you feel.  Just sitting all day and focusing on the way you feel will more likely make you relapse.  I have thought about suboxone but I've heard suboxone is hard to kick as well and withdrawls are long lasting.  I didn't spend the last 30 days in hell just to go back to my old ways and do this all over again.  GOOD LUCK to anyone going through this and hang in there ONLY a strong willed person can do this.

Its nice to hear that your hanging in thier, it takes time for your body to normalize after methadone, I really thought I was still having issues physically from getting off methadone, because I never quite got over the fatigue, as it turns out I went to the doctor on Thursday & I have anemia, which kinda releived me, so now I just have to take iron & wait to recover. Congrats to you!!! Penelope
