Does Suboxone really work

Has anyone in here successfully detoxed off of narcotics by using Suboxone?  Ive heard so many horror stories about it but have never heard if it works.  And when I mean is it successful, I mean has anyone taken it for a short time 10-21 days and then went off of it to be drug free?  Do you need a referral from your PCP to see a Dr. in the area that treats with Sub?  I would not want to trade one addiction for another. Thanks!

The med questions you need to ask your doctor about we are not doctors so it would be irresponsible for us answer that .Some doctors except  INS for sub but most do not. it  can be  expensive .

Thanks for the info.  Do Drs. that treat with Sub take most insurances? Also, do you have to be referred by your PCP to a Dr. who treats with Sub?  One more thing.  I take ativan and a sleep aid, which I DO NOY abuse.  Can you be on that and take Sub at the same time?

Thanks!
Ellen

YES YES YES..IT DEF. WORKS, AND EVEN FOR THE MOST SEVER CASES OFA DDICTION, IT DOES WORK..sorry for the caps...didnt mean too, im not that excited bout suboxone...haha. no i was on it for 8 months and it got me off of a 2 and half year severe and ehavy addiction to snorting heroin and oxycontin, let alone any other pill i could get up my nose as well or could potentiate them. I was obsessed with all drugs and in constant fear of the horrid horrid wd's. After running forever and trying hundreds of times to get off on my own I decided to get real help. I broke dwon to my family and i went to detox. since i went on saturday they didnt ahve suboxne docs that worked the weekends so i ahd to wait. I wd'ed and detoxed for three days, was given lorazepam, clonidine, immodium as, tigan(anti-nausea med), and ambien for insomnia, they aided in making the wd's less bad but it was still pure hell, but then when is aw the sub doctor iw as given 4 mgs and 30 mins later all my physical wd symptoms were completely gone, i actually had a mild buzz and i was completely fine. I left 30 mins alter and stayed on it and clean from all opaites for 8 mths. the average half-life is 37 hrs, so it last for 2 days so you dont ahve to worry about your next fix, or having enough, it is a wondefful addiction aid. it reallys does help alot of ppl addicted to opiates. the only problem it has is that is has a ceiling effect wherer any higehr than 32mgs a day where I at would actuallyput you into terrible wd's so you can only go so high with suboxone thats why some sever cases like my self need to switch to methadone. but suboxone works most of the time and ive met and seen many many ppl 20+ detox and take suboxone as their treatment and stay clean,a dn still are celan to this day. its been over a year and theya re alls till clean, some aer still on suboxone, some amy need to be on it for many many years, some got off after a month or two, some 6 mths, some are getting off now, tapering slwoly, but it is def. a good, treatment tool..no it is not a miracle drug, you HAve to do work as well, go to meetingsNA group, you ahve to get therapy and ge to the core of the addiction but with the aid of suboxone your success rate is huge and well worth teh cost..believe me..i fully stand by that..-christos
