I agree...too much brain shocking and medication
she is inpatient yearly for anorexia...usually they wait til she is below 90 lbs before she goes to new orleans for 2-3 mths..I do know her weight is not helping her fight this..it would be nice if we coul do ect or take tons of meds and be happy..i keep telling her none of that is working..sometimes it comes from within
she has had ect 3 different rounds in the last 30 yrs....and has been hospitlaized at least 15 times for anorexia..she has been on every AD under the sun..i think this time..the meds or the ect has fried her brain....she cat remember nuttin...and u have to start every story over like it is the first time u told her.;I think at 99lbs 600 mgs of seroquel was too much...he upped her dose a few weeks before this happened..it doesnt matter what I think...i just hope she is ok
I worked with her yrs ago....and one day i drove up my drive and she lived next door...ten yrs ago.....for the most part she has always gotten on my last nerve..i hate to say that...but i had lil respect for her...her husband adores her..she has 2 beautiful boys//nopw older that goes thru this constantly. She doesnt have to work....she has everything a person might want.....but last year when my life was on the verge of falling aprt..she was there for me...and i will never forget it..if u have my loyalty...it stays
Her husband was diagnosed with retinal cancer not long ago..he is a saint..a retired firefighter...not a good prognosis...but he is ok for now.....holy cow! I do know if sumpin happens to him????? dont wanna go there..she has no mom or dad....and her boys sometimes call her "crazy lady"
Worried - HI girl! Missed you much! Send me a message.
Now re Seroquel. Ive never taken it. But my mother in law takes it.. actually use to take it. It gave her hullicinations. Bad ones. She is only 50. She is bipolar/manic depressive. Doc tried her on Seroquel. Said to take it before bed cause it would make her sleepy. Every night she took it she had vivid hullucinations.. People in her room. Sh would dance around her house. Have hour long conversations with people (who were not there!) - really scary stuff. And she remembered it like it was real. Actually thought she had ghosts/spirits in the house. Scared the crap out of us telling us these stories.. Didnt realize it was the meds until she stopped them (she always stops her bipolar meds.. but that's another issue). When she stopped the Serequol, the hullucinations stopped.
Hope your neighbor comes out of it. I always here stories like this and immediatley think people are OVER medicated.. but the dangers in stopping meds like these are bad too.. a terrible situation all around.. Hoping she is ok. Hoping you are ok too..

Hi Worried! Wow! She's sick! I agree with everyone...she needs to be in patient for a number of reasons. Her weight is way too low so she must eat poorly. You know what happens when electrolytes get out of wack. It's good the Seroquel was stopped but
those symptoms are scary. Is she our age?
Also,5 ECT tx's in 3 weeks seems excessive in my experience. Usually those folks getting high treatments are in patient;they don't get sent home. And the fact that the cogentin didn't work just gives me pause...
Good luck here. This is sad. Post back, okay?

The shuffling & falling down may not be a result of the seroquel but of the low weight she is at.because of the anorexia. With anorexia often comes depression which could also be the reason for the flat affect. I have had an eating disorder and she sounds very depressed from the way you describe her. And her weight sounds dangerously low. I would be seeking inpatient eating disorder treatment at a facility that also treats other psychiatric problems.
to add...she reminds me of a parkinson's patient in her affect and motions...i read and found out seroquel blocks dopamine and parkinsons's is caused by deteriorating dopamine
