Hi Bob...did/would you consider going into a detox or rehab center?  They would medicate you so that the withdrawl symptoms aren't as bad as they would be coming off the Norco by yourself and you'd be in a controlled environment where you couldn't be tempted to take anything.  I once had a 20 Percocet a day habit, but I was younger and although it was hell, the withdrawl was easier than it would be now.  It took 3 days of detoxing for me to start feellilng better.  I also was on a suboxone program, years later for heroin addiction.  Suboxone is like a "wonder drug", just like methadone (I was on a methadone clinic for 8 years, it took me 80 weeks to detox off that at 1 mg/per week, but the monetary cost and traveling were too much to bear).  With suboxone, you will feel better but it's an opiate also and to me,like substituting one drug for another. The suboxone at times would bother my stomach, but also for months, the 1/2 pill I was taking each day was getting me high.  Iti's like a vicious circle.  Tapering, if you can do it, is a good idea also, but you're going to experience discomfort and as I was told by a professional, "your're an addict, if you have them, you're gonna take them" .  That's why I think your best bet would be to get the professional help via a detox/rehab environment.  I would follow that up by getting involved in
Narcotics Anonymous or AA meetings for continued support.  So many times, I've gotten myself clean and gone back to using thinking, "i  can use just this one time" and it always lead to full blown addiction.  NA meetings truly helped me because i was with people who could share their "experience, strength and hope".  Also, talk to your Dr. about non-narcotic meds you can take for your pain.  There are many meds that can help.  Best of luck to you...cindy

Hi Bob and welcome to the forum.. I came off this amount almost 2 years ago this October.. It is doable.. being honest the wd did suck but I was so sick of my addiction dependence on them. my thoughts were consumed by how many pills I had. counting many times a day I was not even getting high at this point just maintenance so I would not get sick.. I decided. excuse the expression, but to grab the bull by the balls and welcomed the wd.. anything had to be better then the life I was living. I was lying to those I loved my kids were pulling away my health was failing.. I had everything to loose.. I went to war on my addiction.. got me a positive attitude and welcomed the wd. sorta a cleansing by fire if you will.. Hot showers baths a lot of them.. I also took a vit supplement.. we have a excellent vitamin regiment in the amino acid protocol bottom right.. Hyalnds restful leg for rls this I got at a drug store and Valerian root for anxiety.. I had a good positive attitude and I think this is what took me the furthest.. You can do this with support and a strong desire to get your life back.. I know at this amount how much you are not feeling.. there will be tears but they are cleansing.. You are not alone and I hope you take the steps you need for I have found so much that I thought was lost.. keep posting keep reading and know You can do this.. I wish you well on your journey.. lesa

I forgot to tell you that there are medications that can really help with the withdraws. I went through 7 days of serious, terrible withdraws with no help, until I finally said enough is enough and the doctor's put me on Suboxene.  I hear that Suboxene is a life saver for withdraws, but they made me so sick to my stomach.

I am dealing with addiction to Norco too.  Mine is for chronic pain.  You are not alone that's for sure. Even though I don't take as many as you do, I certainly can't judge you.  I know it's very difficult.  I quit recently for 3 months. I wanted to see how I would feel without opidates and actually it was terrible.  Too much pain.  At least I tried. I am back on morphine, which I don't abuse and I take 4 to 7 Norco's per day. If it's regular Vicodin I can take 10 a day. Right now, I believe that I need to take these medications to get through the pain day to day, but I am trying to learn how to take only what I really, really need. Why are you taking these anyway?  How long have you been taking that many for?  Let's take it day by day, moment by moment, and pray.  Looking forward to hearing from you.
