Think im replacing alcohol for drugs

I think i am replacing alcohol for the drugs. It *****. I wake up hungover and start drinking. I got off of the drugs and had to deal with the reality of having cancer and 7 surgeries in 2 years and it hurts so bad. The thought of leaving my 3 yr old daughter without her father. How do i deal with all of this. I didnt care when i was strung out. It *****.

yea the drinking is not a good exchange. i found that one out. and you have to agree the hangovers are not worth it.
i was doing research on line for a friend of a friend who has cancer and just recieved a supply of apricot seeds in the mail. there are many who are getting good results from simply eating them. they supply vit. B17 and research has showed that cancer may be linked to a defiecency in this vit.  well, they were relatively cheap and a natural food. not harmful. about $13 for a bag. check it out...

If you don't want to continue to go from one drug to the another you better get some recovery care or this exactly what will happen .You need to get back to living a healthy life again instead of dwelling on what could have happened you .Trust me when I say it just as possible to die from an addiction as it is to die from cancer you got one under control. time to get the recovery care to help

I am not talking about aftercare with a doctor.  Have you thought about some sort of counseling to talk about your cancer and your concerns?  Being hard headed is okay if it doesnt interfere with growth.  I am as hard headed as they come but there comes a time when you have to finally admit you cant do this alone.   sara

Hi Scott.. sara is right.. I started with Heroin that was bad but the years I spent drinking alcohol. were the ones I lost most of my time.. my memories are fuzzy of my children's youth, they are 23 and 24 now.. and it will kill the liver quicker then opiates..
Sorry to read about how much you have endured and I Thank the good spirits that you are here to enjoy your daughter and family.. use your time building Good memories for you daughter to cherish.. throw yourself into life.. drugs.alcohol smother it. Maybe try and change up your attitude switch it around.. Our minds are very powerful when we put them to it.. Please keep posting.. lesa

Will drinking change the outcome?  NO it wont.  Swapping addictions is very common during this time.  Scott i am an alcoholic too, a recovering one at that.  You say you have a 3 yr old daughter......instead of numbing your pain with substances pull up your bootstraps and get yourself clean and enjoy the time you have.  None of us know how long we have on this earth.  I spent many many MANY years drinking and taking drugs and missed out on an a$$ load of things with my children.  We should be making memories for our family every single day as tomorrow is never promised to us.  You have 2 choices here, either you contine to drown yourself in misery or put that bottle down and change things up.....Your call my friend.  Please make that right call.  Are you getting any type of aftercare?          sara
