Day 3 on suboxone

Well - today is day 3 and i'm feeling wonderful really!  I took 2 mgs of sub this morning when i got up-probably about 2 or 2 1/2 hours ago, and now just took another 2 mgs.  It seemed that the 4 mgs right away gave me the really heavy eyes, which i think is a sign of too much, so we'll see how this does.  I slept great last nite!  Its wonderful to be off the PK's and still have the energy to do things...

i did more reading on suboxone and it appears that i have been taking too little.  I also spoke with my doctor and i will see her tomorrow. She is a naturopathic physician so she does not want me doing this sub anyway and she has found a new treatment to help opiate addicts get off opiates - it consists of different therapies-like vitamin and amino acid IV therapy, acupuncture, biofeedback.. etc -if that works it will be a wonderful thing and i'll let you all know about it. Right now they are doing this therapy at a place called Inner Balance Health Center in Colorado.  I will try and put a couple of websites that talk about it, but i haven't looked on the net yet.  They are www.InnerBalanceHealthCenter.com, www. BridgingTheGaps.com and www.HealthRecovery.com.  Someone tried giving me a website link one time on a thread and they didn't post it-so if you really want it you can ask me in a pm....

So, mel1526, i don't want to be on this sub for very long at all, so i will try and do a quick taper.

if you just started the suboxone do urself a favor and do a quick taper of 10-14 days max. trust me when i tell u any longer and u will pay with W/D. im not trying to scare u but if i can stop even one person from going through that hell ill be happy. the drs either are uninformed or dont give a **** and just want ur money, just like the drug companies. you will go through at LEAST minor w/d even short term. if you want to see others go to opiate detox recovery site and check out links to suboxone. you  will come to realize there is NO FREE RIDE!

You replied back that you will be on short term use of sub, and if I knew anything about it.  I only asked because there seems to be two thiughts on this, short term or long term tapers.  As they say, though, not only is everyone different, everyone must make their own decision on which to do.

Believe me. please, I'm not trying to start this controvery.  What I think would be most helpful if different people, both on long term and short term. continue to post what happens, as many are doing, so that others can make their own informed decisions.

My very best to you.  Fight this fight with everything that you have, always, always knowing that that clean life you are going to toward is a wonderful life!

Mary is right. It seems to take about a week to stabalize on the correct dose. I kept trying different things until I finally got it. Just remember what you do today you wont see the effects until tommorow because of the half life. I have found that if I take half of my total dose in the morning and the other half in the afternoon it works great. I am now cutting my afternoon dose down little by little. You don't want to taper your doses by 50% or you will have withdrawl symptoms. That would be like cutting your perk intake in half each time. Give it a little time and by the end of the week you should be good.

It seems the first week on sub is difficult for almost everyone. I had the nodding off also.  I had to drive a friend to the airport and was so scared I would just fall asleep at the wheel. The tricky thing with sub is, the symptoms of taking too little, can be similar to taking too much. If you start to feel some withdrawal symptoms, I would break the 2mg pill in half and take half at a time, until you start to feel better.  I think it took me about 4 or 5 days for me to get my dose right and the nodding to stop.  Then I felt great. Hang in there.

Cool- i never heard the one about the coughing~doesn't take long for it to happen if i'm driving~5 minutes down the road and its happening. But i definately will check on it tomorrow. Back to work tomorrow and sitting at the computer is going to be difficult. After taking that 2 mgs  a few hours ago, i feel a bit better, the temp inside my body feels like it went down some

I asked around a bit and it seems that the nodding off thing isn't too unusual during the first few days. I'd hit up the Sub hotline and see if they have any wisdom to share about it (if it's likely to just be a temporary side effect or if it likely to be part of a dosage issue) - I'd even ask the Sub doctors office what they think if you get the chance tomorrow.

If it's only happening when you are sitting for long periods, try doing the whole get up and stretch thing every 15 min. or so (can just be briefly). And also (a phlebotomist told me this one so not sure if it works... lol) when the dozing-off feeling gets really strong - make yourself cough with as much force as you can and see if that spike in blood pressure forces enough blood to the head to revive you a bit.

I have been told that the nodding can come from too high of a dose-so i did cut back after that first day, now this afternoon and evening i am feeling symptoms of withdrawl, the depression and i feel so hot inside-like i am burning up, and i remember that so well from withdrawl or when i even was running low on pills so i had to cut back...it feels like such a roller coaster and i get so mad at myself for being such an addict

I had nausea and nod offs. But it seemed to decrease after a few days for me. People say it is from too high of a dose. I did find that taking maybe even a 1/4 less pill, got rid of those symptoms. Feel out your body and do what feels best for you. Best of luck to you.

Yes I think if the time period on suboxone is quick then there might not be w/d's, I'd love to see it happen but it may, it just might...I've only seen people on longer programs (6 months+).
