FALSE START

Hi ev1,I was supposed to be in the hospital already but I went yesterday and found the facility lacking in so many ways that I was in no way staying there the night.I am very lucky my sister is a great advocate and got me out of there. Now I am waiting to get into 1 of the top 5 hospitals in the USA.

My problem is now with the 2 days in between I am starting to get cold feet about going.I have bipolar disorder and I am OCD(DUH)lol.I think I have a perc addiction.I am not sure but I think so.I take 120 5mgs in a week so Im thinking yeah.lol.I know once I go in its going to be a loooong process to get back on my Meds for my mental illnes and to try to figure out a way to deal with my chronic pain(I have diabetic neurapathy)in a better way.I know I have heart,I know I have a brain but maybe I can still go to the wizard for some courage.lol.Any thoughts from you good folks would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Hey there.. Like everyone is saying...The Lion  already found his courage!!! I also agree..alot of places I wouldn't take my dog either.God gave you "instinct" so you gotta listen. i am major OCD and my dr thinks I am polar too. But....I don't know. I am definately ocd. I vacuume about 20 x's a day.(not kidding) and a few other things. I have always been like that. I didn't know there was something wrong...until now LOL. I have taken many different things in the anti-depre arena, but I always get such bad side affects that I always stop. We all got your backs!!! I will pray you find the right place that is up to standards!  And it definately sounds like you need a new DR. You should be able to talk without being judged (if their a good doc) I know that many have told me pain meds can worsen things like depression and bi-polar disorder. Good Luck to you! Hugs  Lisa...I will be praying for you!

I have taken Lyrica for atypical neuralgia. It can be addictive but it is specifically for diabetic neuropathy and shingles pain. It really does help with nerve pain. So it might be really good for you.

Finding a new doctor may be a good idea, good luck with that and keep us posted.

Thank U so much for your support. As for Lyrica;I have only used it when given to me by friends and it has helped immensly.I have always been hesitant to ask my Dr for it because I didnt want to rock the apple cart.He was after all feeding my perc addiction.I do take gabapentin which does help some in concert with percs.I am also in the process of looking for a new Dr.,someone I can be honest with and get the help I really need.Thank U once again MiMi.WoW U guys are great!!

I am here to tell you there is no replacement for GOOD professional help. There are many Md's and facilities out there that I wouldn’t take my neighbor’s dog to, And I hate that dog. I just got back from my Dr's appt today for my 1 week check, and his encouragement and support made me feel twice as good as when I went in. Good for you for sticking up for yourself and making the choice to get help. OlyAddict

keep looking for the right place and the right people to help you...you will find them...Have you talked with some others who have the bipolar/OCD/similar probs...my daughter is ocd and there are support groups for this...many have addiction problems as well as self medicating is common to escape the mental pain....work on one thing at a time...you will find the help you need
